I don't have a husband.

I have a nerdy IT ex-husband. I was texting him about it this morning. :lol  Due to the ex status, I can only pester so much. His general thinking was that it would be a lot of work. But I also think he thought it was bigger than it will be. I'm pretty decent at the Interwebs; I'm willing to give setting up a forum a try over the next week. I'd rather one of us set up and admin the site rather than have to wait on nerdy husbands to make updates.

The only thing my DH is a pro at is making plastic stuff. He works at a plastics plant, LOL.

Thanks for volunteering Amanda!  I have a phpmyadmin account... is that the same platform?  I use it to create databases for FoodClub.org where I run my co-ops.  I wouldn't be surprised if it has superior code writing, but I'm wondering about how user friendly it is and what it looks like... like if you need to find, copy and paste code or write code to customize it?

As soon as you'd like to get going on checking them out is fine by me.  Once you get something up and running, you can invite us over to give a trial run and see.

I'm happy to help in any way I can from a phone... I doubt that's much, sadly.

Um, right?  My husband is totally a nerd, but all he is good for is inspecting paint on government warships.  Not a skill needed here!

Im pretty much already lost after what Jaimee said.

Thanks for being awesome Amanda.

I may need someone for nerd back up help. Like a nerd. Joanie, isn't your dh a computer nerd?? I'm looking into adding a mobile theme.... there is coding. I think I can do it, but I need a person to call on if it makes me want to throw my laptop, you know? Any ideas? I don't like to ask my ex for too much nerd help, though he'd probably do it. I have little leverage there, though. Lol.

Dh makes his own websites, but I doubt that he would be able to do complicated coding to make it mobile friendly? He doesn't have much time on his hands anyways, works full time, does novel studies on the side, it's busy that is for sure....

I would prefer more privacy but I will still participate if it stays here.

My dh is tech savvy, but he might self destruct if I asked him to do something like this..  ;)

Yes, my DH is the IT nerd you're looking for. I will consult with him when I get home tonight. wink1.gif

What exactly would you guys like me to run across with my DH?

Joanie, I just may need some back up is all. If things get tricky. Ask if he knows PHP. And anything about forums. And hosting. Lol.

Hey, we need a domain name. Any ideas?

Hmmm...  well I'm fine with something simple like November2011 or November2011DDC or something like that.  Or we can go a totally different route if we want to come up with a new name for our group.

I've got nothin', but I'm sitting here on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what domain names people come up with.....
We should name it something nobody would Care about. Maybe Joanie can tell us the most boring thing about accounting lol.gif

What won't attract weirdos?
I'm trying to think of recent conversation quips but they could pretty much all attract weirdos:

Lesbians have boundary issues
I haven't slept in 7 years
Why does the universe hate us
We all have too much spare time

lol.gif

None of these pertain to parenting
