AFM – Lots to report… it’s been a very emotional couple of days here. I have been POAS since last Wednesday, CD10. I have been testing my FMU and SMU, my RE recommends only using the SMU, but with the Clear Blue Advanced Digital Ovulation Kits, it recommended FMU. Anyway… last Friday I started getting a “blinking” smiley face which indicated my estrogen had risen and my LH surge was coming. That continued up until Wednesday morning. Last cycle with my BFP, I had the same system but only got the “blinking” smiley the day before insemination. Well on Wednesday morning I got my first solid positive. I fully expected a second solid positive, but it was negative, I waited 4 hours and tested again, another negative. I decided to call my RE and see what they recommended. They gave me lots of options, including continuing to test, coming in for bloodwork, and ultrasound, or just having an insem done on Thursday. Well we decided to try the bloodwork and ultrasound to see where we were… until I got a call that the 3 panel bloodwork and ultrasound was going to cost $475! I knew infertility wasn’t covered by my insurance but I didn’t think it would cost that much! We immediately canceled and decided to test today, well again negative… This leads to me thinking we are out this month and pretty bummed about it but super glad I didn’t go in for a $475 workup! Well with open enrollment going on and my insurance changing I decided to call the new company and ask some questions about infertility coverage and boy did that turn my day around! I found out that it will be covered starting in January! So instead of paying $540 for a natural, non-monitored and non-medicated IUI like we are now, it will only cost $35!!!! If I understood her correctly, I will only pay $35 for monitored cycles and IVF!!! And my Crinone Progesterone prescription that was costing me $265 a month it will only cost $20!!!! Plus my out of pocket max for the year will be $1,500, so if or once we reach that, I will pay $0! So although it is going to be extremely difficult to wait that long, we are going to wait until January to try again… It just doesn’t make financial sense to pay $540 when in 2 months we will only pay $35.
Thinking about everyone and rooting you on!
