I have no idea where my placenta is but I don't expect to feel any movement for a couple more weeks at least. I don't really trust that the flutters are the baby… I've felt too many things that I could have sworn were a baby moving when I wasn't even pregnant to trust anything but obvious limbs ;)

I'm 13 isn weeks I guess, starting to feel like I'm really showing but it's not obvious to others yet. I've gained weight from eating poorly but I have more energy for exercise now so I'm hoping that as soon as the queasiness is gone I won't be so resistant to the smell of real food cooking.  We're going out for Ethiopian food tonight and I am super excited about that :)  I'm a little food obsessed lately even though I only feel like eating late at night!

That's how I am, too. DH and I were out thrift storing the other day and got some maternity clothing. The checkout lady asked who was pregnant (I said DH, of course. Isn't the pink flowered jacket just his color?), and said that I didn't look like I was. I was wearing a tight shirt and had a definite pooch, but I guess it just looks like a pooch, and not a baby belly.

I always end up feeling insecure like this up until the third trimester or so. If I don't look pregnant, what in the world must people be thinking about my waistline?

I keep thinking it is strange no one seems to pick up on my pregnancy yet either, but I had diastasis recti after my last baby from polyhydramnios. I feel like lifting my LO has made my abs go back to normal but it has been replaced with what I think of as a baby belly. I just bought a maternity shirt on cafepress to wear in our Christmas card photo that we are taking next weekend. I wanted something that made it fairly obvious that I am pregnant but still cute and kinda Christmas themed. My BFF is taking the photo and she doesn't know I am pregnant yet so it will be funny to show up to her studio wearing it and see what she says....especially since I got pregnant the night of her DH birthday party.  :-)

I want a t-shirt like that!  Or something equally obvious in our Christmas photo to announce with, like a pair of shoes on the ground or something.  Lots of people we know live too far away to know yet, and I'm excited to share the news.  Although this is the last year we do a card and a letter and a photo.  Next year just photos that we can sign.

I love that shirt!!  Where can we get one?

I had my 16wk appt today.  All is good.  I have gained zero pounds (also never threw up first trimester so I consider that a victory).  Last time they could not find the HB so we had another U/S to be on the safe side but TODAY the second she put the doppler to my belly -BAM- there the baby was.  :)  Right up front and low.  :love  I feel like this is a boy more than ever for some reason!!  Our anatomy scan will be done by the prenatal specialist vs the regular OB (they operate out of the same office anyway) so they can be more in-depth with our downs risk (which is hardly anything, really).  Same office, same thing, whatever is what I said.  Dec 17th we find out!!  I can't wait!

I'm so jealous!  We won't find out until mid January.  I am feeling boy vibes but I felt them the last two times as well.

Thanks for the kind words, ladies.  We are still uncertain what will happen, considering our plan qualifies for the extension.  However, the rates go up a ton, while providing the same coverage.  How does that work?  Someone's getting rich off this deal....  So, anyway, it will be up to the city council to decide if they stick with it or not.  I hate uncertainty.

Ooooh, and with all my irritation, what did I do?  I went shopping.  :innocent  Joann had their clearance fabrics at 50% the markdown price, so I got a stretch knit and a linen for my baby wraps.  I think the linen I found is the most beautiful piece of fabric I've ever seen in my life!!  Squeee!  I can't wait to use it!  It is a soft coffee brown with a silver weave rose pattern on the outside.  It probably isn't the most practical design for a wrap, but it feels good and I LOVE it!

Bailey - Holy cow, that's a lot to pay out of pocket!!  And cute shirt!  I saw that one and thought it was adorable.  My oldest son thinks the bun in the oven saying is a riot, so he'd get a kick out of that shirt too.

I went to the dentist yesterday to have my teeth cleaned.  He said there wasn't any obvious erosion from all the vomiting, so yeah!  It feels so super to have clean teeth now, because I haven't been able to brush well the past couple months with the gag reflex and all.  Still puking some and feeling off, but not all the time.

I will be 15 weeks tomorrow! Yeah! Had a doctor appointment last week. We got another ultrasound and got to see the baby move around. Our doctor also did all the measurements and checked for markers of down syndrome. He said everything looked perfect and right on track. No markers for down syndrome. I can't believe how devolved the baby looked and he or she was moving all over the place. Next month we get to find out the gender. Our doctor looked though and said he thinks the baby is a girl. I still think the baby is going to be a boy. On my DH side it is almost all boys maybe 1 or 2 girls. I really would like to have a boy and a girl, so it is not important to me the gender but I think I will be in shock if the baby is a girl.

I feel for everyone who is having insurance nightmares! Since we live out of the US but have jobs with health insurance back in the states, it makes it very difficult. On top of that the insurance we have sucks! We have to pay out of pocket here in Costa Rica and then submit paperwork and recites to the insurance company, who is then suppose to reimburse us.  I think in the end it will be cheaper giving birth here but more of a paper work nightmare!

Ugh, I need to go to the dentist! I will probably wait until my gag reflux settles down more but I need to go before the baby comes because Im sure I wont have time when I have 3 ages 3 and under!

The shirt is from cafepress online. I paid a whopping $50 for because I paid extra to have it ship in time for our photo but I think it will end up being something I can wear to Thanksgiving and Christmas since I am always so warm when pregnant.

I have an u/s on Friday and I will be just about 15 weeks. What are the chances that they will be able to even guess at the gender? I am having a lot of boy vibes too, although DH is SURE it is a girl and he has benn right on all of them so far. My MS and sex drive have just been different this time after 3 girl pregnancies and I am also way less hot tempered this pregnancy.

My pregnancy/parenting moment of the day - I was at a semi-fancy luncheon for work, and my nose is running (pregnancy rhinitis). I reach in my purse to get something to wipe it with and pull out what I think is a cloth napkin. After wiping my nose, I realize it's actually the spare pair of My Little Pony underwear I have in there in case my 3 year old had an accident.

On the less silly side - I've had a mild headache for the past several weeks, pretty much continually. It's making me really grumpy, and I think it's a big part of the reason I just want to sleep all the time. I'm having a hard time tolerating the kids because they inevitably get wound up and shrieky. I'm pretty sure there's nothing actually wrong - it just feels like a tension headache, but I suppose I'll have someone check my blood pressure at work tomorrow just to be sure. I'm trying to drink more water (in case it's dehydration, and I know there are days I don't drink enough), but it doesn't really seem to help. Nor does caffeine. It doesn't seem to be specifically stress-related. I'm not willing to take tylenol on an ongoing basis, and don't think once would help (though maybe I should try it and see at this point!).

Just frustrating, especially since, other than feeling headachy and tired, things are great right now.

@ocelotmom, your headache could be from your bra no longer fitting properly - sometimes putting tension on one part of the upper body brings it out in a different place.  I have been having on-again/off-again head, neck and back pain, and I was all "oh, I don't think my boobs have changed that much" to which DH replied "uh, yes, they have" (with a little smile - he doesn't have to pack them around all day).  And sure enough, I wore a sports bra to work today and felt a million times better.  Tomorrow it's off to the bra store for me!

I'm feeling totally overwhelmed, I assume due in large part to the pregnancy hormones. I feel like DH has been ridiculously insensitive. He made some comment supposedly about himself needing a certain gpa and LSAT score to get into a certain tier law school because "otherwise it's not worth it, you'll end up a paralegal." I guess it never dawned on him I'm that secondary candidate he was describing and will end up a paralegal. Thanks. Meanwhile, in his opinion there is no way I should accept the Final Offer for a job I've been waiting for for what seems like ages when I'm finally third, or possibly second, in line for it that pays more than his anecdotal paralegal job. In the end it all boils down to being my fault for wanting to move here. I hate feeling regret, but I really am now.

sorry, off topic and ranty.

I am 13 weeks this week. We had an appointment yesterday heart rate 164. I really want a boy. I remember with my son his heart rate was 140's-150's. In the early part of pregnancy isn't the heart rate always higher? I should know this I am a nurse but this is not my speciality.

My baby's heart rate was 178 at 10 weeks but now at almost 15 weeks its in the 150's. I really want a boy too. I have had 3 girls and they all had higher HR except for my youngest who was more in the 140's.

My pregnancy hormones are getting to me this morning. My oldest is such a chatterbox and def. a morning person and I am still fighting off the morning yuckies and I just want tell her to shut up and get away from me! : ( Just.stop.talking.child.and.back.UP! My youngest is grumbling her way through the morning, needs a nap but doesnt want to fall asleep. I just want to eat breakfast amd go back to bed.

Not a mother of the year type of morning.

Did you ever try any of those chinese prediction things for fun? And if so were any of them accurate? I know they are just for fun but I have one that says a girl and one that says a boy. Of course it is going to be whatever God wants me to have, LOL.

The chinese gender chart was correct 2/3 of my kids. Based on HR and the gender chart my youngest should be a boy but she is all girl. Whenever she is holding a toy she has her pinkies up like she is drinking tea. lol.

About the gender predictors: I saw this blog about a gender reveal party where she made a sign listing all the amateur prediction strategies she'd heard and what were the results--and they came out exactly even! :eyesroll  Cute idea.

Lately I've been missing having my period!  I guess it's just that it's been long enough without it now that it's starting to seem weird.  I find myself thinking wistfully about the pretty red color...but of course I am glad I'm not actually having any bleeding!!  I got an email that New Moon Pads is having free shipping until the end of the year and ordered some for postpartum.
