I think that's where we left off. Did you say that weekends didn't work for you, Ash? A Monday would be great but we'll have to find someplace other than the Children's Museum since it's members only that day. I know I have the day after Thanksgiving off and I avoid shopping like the plague that day, but that might not apply to others.

Busy here today. And thanks for the happy birthdays, but her day is tomorrow. So, you can all just repeat yourselves at 12:32 am. Today is definitely MY birthing day though. Water broke on this day at around 5 am and I labored all day. I'm reminiscing. About this time is when I finally arrived at the hospital, soaking wet. I was a fool who thought I was done leaking water by the time we left. Bumpy car ride proved me wrong. Gross.

Halloween was fun. DD1 was really into it this year. Greta would just stare people down as they put candy in her pumpkins with this look that said "Really, I hold out this pumpkin and you just give me candy?!" Then, she'd giggle and move on. It was adorable. Tomorrow, we're doing a small cake and ice cream thing for her birthday, packing on Sunday, hit the road Monday morning. I'm having anxiety about how intense next week is going to be... Thank God my therapist squeezed me in this week before I leave. Why didn't anyone tell me earlier how awesome real therapy is? Everyone should do it.

I don't mind weekends, and I'm not opposed to a location change. But I couldn't think of another place in a central location like that. We tend to stay more on this side of the bridge.

So, I've been having pain in my armpits and boobs, but especially my right boob. Today I felt weird lumps in there, that don't feel like ducts. I'm hoping it is just milk duct issues, but I'm worried. I've been feeling weak and breathless and extra tired for almost 2 weeks.

Heading to the doctor after lunch. Please send happy thoughts with me. I'm in a bad place right now.

Joanie, I made our detergent at the beginning of the summer and we've been using it ever since. I really like it! Gets things clean without scents (which is a plus for me, tho might be a negative for others). I do have an HE machine (new, hate it! I'd love nothing more than to have my harvest gold 1977 top loader back that they hauled off when they brought the new set. That thing was a beast and got shit CLEAN!) so every wash no mater what I do extra rinse. I use vinegar in the softener spot. From my calculations, the detergent I made (5 gallons) should last us about 2 years and it cost in total about $8 to make.

That's all I have time to comment on. We are headed to Ocean Shores to clam dig! We'll be home Sunday. I am going to be surprised if I have cell service there!

Dr said the lumps felt mechanical, so duct-related, and symptoms sounded like pre-mastitis. Wouldn't address my anxiety at all. I hate walk-in clinics. I need to find a doctor.

Do you trust the dx?

No, not really. I feel SO off. She said to go back to see a doctor if I still feel like this in 3 or 4 days, so that's what I plan to do.

Kirsten, mastitis feels pretty messed up. What feels wrong about the Dx?

I'm so far whine I'm skipping everything, sorry.

I'm having 4 vegetarians over for dinner tomorrow. 1 is vegan and 2 are wheat free. Anyone have quick ideas that I can make on the stovetop, crockpot or toaster oven without boiling anything and will feed 10?

My favorite quick meal is bean chilli- just cans of beans, cans of tomatoes, organic frozen corn, and whatever other veggies I have on hand (celery, broccoli, literally whatever).  With like, coriander, cumin, and whatever else I put in it.

In 4.5 years of breastfeeding I've never once had a plugged duct or mastitis. Why now?

I have some breast pain, but it's pretty minor. More like how your boobs feel when you are pregnant. Achy. I thought mastitis would hurt more? I feel off, but not the way I have felt when I have had other kinds of infections. But that I am taking with a grain of salt, because maybe the stress of the current situations is messing with my body. Like maybe without the cortisol and adrenaline from stress and anxiety I WOULD feel more like I do normally when I have an infection.

But, I feel OK enough with the Dx to wait a few days to pursue anything further.

And I do feel determined to still go to the Out in the Valley queer Halloween dance. It's a big deal. The queer community is very marginalized out here, BC's bible belt, and this is the biggest queer event that has been organized out here ever. I won't be doing any crazy dancing, but I want to make the effort to attend. I feel up for sitting at a table and watching some drag shows. I need some fun right now.

Question... The lumps are in the breast that Oren doesn't nurse out of, and I've never had much success with pumping, and don't own a pump. Any other suggestions? I've been massaging them, I'm about to run hot water on them. I tried to get him to nurse on that side but he won't.
