Back from the Thanksgiving Odyssey travels. T-day was nice at my brother's, no drama for a change. A bit overwhelming as my SIL had over 30 people!!! Yipes. Then the best decision we made was to send ds back with dh on the train the next day instead of coming with me for the bar mitzvah road trip. He would have been miserable and made us all miserable also. So I and the girls headed to the DC metro area for the weekend, which was fun, overwhelming, intense, and bittersweet (as I really miss living in that community). I left the bar mitzvah party early on Sat. night and drove up to my parents in NJ to sleep a few hours, then we came back the rest of the way Sunday morning.

 

Whew.

 

In all that time only one run, on Tday.

 

Took the day off yesterday, my first solo day off since before school started. I had grand plans to clean the house but decided instead to get my errands (oil change, etc.) done and then meet a friend to go shopping. Which was fun. Dh gave me a gift card for Chanukah so I spent it on something I would never have paid out of pocket for but really wanted (a very good skin cream for daytime), I got a bright orange pencil skirt at Banana Republic on clearance pluse 40% off (I paid like $17 for it), and I bought myself a fun Life is Good mug for school. Silly things but fun. I am also starting a 'pithy historical sayings' bumper sticker collection for my classroom (which I will laminate and put up on a bulletin board, not stick on). So at this offbeat independent bookstore in Northampton where I also bought dh's Chanukah gift, I got some funny ones.

 

RR: 6.2 yesterday, 6.2 today. The fog today was actually really good for my asthma so I did some speedwork.

Jazzharmony: welcome.  And does the pain persist when you do other things (other than upright) -- biking? etc.?

 

Nic: I am exhausted thinking about your weekend. Oh MY! Thanksgiving. Religious holiday. Big party.  Oh and travel.  OMG.:dizzy  But hearing you talk about taking the day off from work and doing Nic-things, makes me wonder if you shouldn't figure out how to do that more often?  You sound recharged after a weekend that would leave me dead on the tracks for about 3 weeks! My teacher friend who lives down the street gets 10 paid sick days per year. She takes a sick day for her annual gyn exam and schedules the appointment early in the day. Spends the rest of the day on Sarah things: hiking, shopping for her, hair cut, etc.

 

We got a huge dumping of snow. YES!  Kids have a snow day, but I do not. And I have an 8 am lab. So I've already shoveled (3 times actually) and made it the 15 miles to work.  But I'm going home ~930am to pull the shift with the kids.

Welcome jazzharmony! Since I am the poster-child for running while injured and causing further injury, I will suggest taking a week off from running smile.gif. You will not lose all you have gained in one week, I promise.

Nic - phew, what a weekend you had! Glad you enjoyed your gift card shopping spree!

kerc - snow! Yay! We're expecting some by Friday too orngbiggrin.gif.

RR - apparently, running a 5K on Thanksgiving tweaked my knee a little, so today I'm going to walk, stretch and do my much-neglected PT exercises.

NRR - DH and I had to lay the discipline hammer down on DD1 this weekend greensad.gif. We took away her riding lesson this week. She is famous for giving DD2 the "atomic elbow" (think jamming your elbow into younger sister's stomach as hard a possible in the car). We've warned her before that this would happen. Of course, now I get to hear all the whining and crying about how she is not riding this week. I told her that maybe she's think twice about using the atomic elbow in the future.

I want to thank you for the responses smile.gif
I am taking a week off just to be safe. I'm okay walking but will even minimize that this week. I'm babying it in hopes of being able to run ASAP. I will stick with safe pilates this week.
