return of menstruating

My twins were delivered naturally without complications(even with baby b being breech). I am nursing and got my period when they were 7 months. It was nice and light. However i am now on my 3rd cycle postpartum and have extremely heavy flow. I cannot even use tampons as i leak within an hour. I have also noticed blood clots in the toilet. I am on day 3 and its not slowing down. Is this normal? Never had this problem after my singleton. Thanks!

I was almost exactly like you, except a little more delayed.  Natural birth, exclusive breastfeeding.  Got my period at 14 months (which seems pretty close to norm for my family.)  But when I did, wow!  My cycles were so heavy it was almost scary.  Totally unexpected.  Of all the advice you get as a new mom, wish someone had warned me about that.

For me, it took 7 months to be back to normal.  For you, hopefully it'll be faster.

Then mine disappeared again!! It has been months since I had one. I think I have had 5 periods in 5 years (plus 2 kids).
