I just thought an updated roster every month would be good but I'll post what I have at the top of the thread to the roll call thread.

It also will allow people who didn't join the DDC while the test was still wet the opportunity to participate.

The way the ones I've participated in worked are that everyone buys as many beads as there are people participating (plus a few extras just in case). You send the beads along with a postage paid addressed envelope to the coordinator. When the coordinator has beads from everyone, they portion out the beads, then send them back in the supplied envelopes. It is awesome to see what different pieces are made from the same set of beads. I would be happy to be the coordinator, but only if the swap took place after December, as I would hate to volunteer and then miscarry.

The kind of secret sister swap you are suggesting, Becky Wheeler, is also fun, but something different altogether. When I participated in the past, I was always the one whose partner disappeared into the wild blue yonder so while I sent a gift, I never got one in return.

That sounds good. I also thought xmas might be a little early, but it was just a thought with secret santa idea attached to it. I really like how you explained it alot better though.

I would love to participate in a bead swap too. I didn't in my last ddc, and I regret it. In my first ddc I participated in a virtual shower thing, and it was a lot of fun. Of course, I actually received my gift though...

I didn't do the bead thing in my last DDC, but if shipping to Canada doesn't create too many headaches, and it's post-christmas-madness, I'd be interested!

Had my first MW appt this morning, with the same MW who delivered my 2yo, and her student MW. All is good, heard baby's HB, got blood drawn, did the medical history etc, and booked another appt for a month from now. Uneventful, just the way I like it!

I'm sick of being tired and nauseous and getting anxious about revealing this pregnancy to people. With my jeans getting tighter today it reminded me I can't keep this a secret forever, I felt myself holding my stomach in a bit at work even though it's still just a fatty area I'm sure it's gotten bigger. I'm worried about finances, the changes a baby will bring to mine and my family's lives and my head is just all over the place today :dizzy Is it bedtime yet?

I'm interested in the bead swap too !

@snowydays I can relate, I miss 2 days work last week, I ate something bad, got sick and had fever, I was very anxious about this being bad for the baby, worrying about possible listeria... Now I'm beginning to think more seriously about telling my boss and co-workers. I'd wish to wait after 12 weeks, but I'm so tired, I'm starting to think I'd would be better they know I'm pregnant then just thinking I'm lazy and uninterested...

Nausea definitely kicked in for me at the end of last week... it's still not so bad but the fatigue was already pretty bad, I sure have to rethink my personal organization to allow for more rest... Not easy, I'm working full time and my man is out of town half of the week.

Courage ladies !

I had my first appointment today, and we heard the heartbeat! I'm so relieved. We talked a lot about my fears and all that, and they put my mind at ease a lot.

I've been feeling it for about a week now. People keep telling me it's gas. But I feel it where my uterus is, which is like 2 inches above my pubic bone now, at almost 10 weeks. I felt my 3rd around that time too, so I know it wasn't gas.

I felt flutters with my first at 13 weeks and taps with my second at 10-11 weeks. People don't believe me either, but it was clear to me what it was, and it wasn't gas!

a bead swap sounds cool! and I am a jeweller so I have lots of beads and ideas for easy handmade beads.

I love the idea of a bead swap!! Reminds you of all the some in labor somewhere in the world the same time As you!

However, @WonderFull and I live in Australia! Would that be too much of a hassle if I sent mine from across the sea?!

Other DDCs are allowing international members to participate in their swaps, so I don't see why not. Since each member is paying for their own shipping both ways, the extra cost would be yours. You might have to be more on top of things to get the beads to the coordinator before the deadline, but it's definitely doable. smile.gif

Sounds good! Yeah that's right if I care of shipping it would be my own choice. Yeah
I'm in! Just let me know dates smile.gif

So how does it work again? I think I got kind of lost in the "when" instead of the "how" last time. lol

1) Everyone who wants to participate in the bead swap signs up by a set deadline.
2) Participants purchase or make enough beads for everyone who is participating to get one.
3) Optional: Participants can include encouraging quotes or messages with their beads. Again, enough for everyone to get one.
4) Participants send beads to coordinator along with a self-addressed bubble mailer already stamped with return postage by agreed-upon due date.
5) Coordinator sorts beads and repackages them so each participant receives a bead from every other participant, then puts them in the mail.
6) Everyone receives their beads and makes awesome pieces of jewelry out of them, using them for inspiration during labor/birth if desired.

I hope that makes sense!

Ah! Okay. That does make more sense than the first time you explained it. lol When should the deadline for step #4 be? February sometime?
