The Big Thank You thread - Page 3

Thread Starter

A huge thank you...

...to all of the Families who have opened themselves to support from Holiday Helper and given so love and happiness.

...to all of the Helpers, including Mothering's advertisers, who provided an item requested by a family and made a Holiday wish come true.

...to all of the Helpers who posted items to the I Have Available list and helped provided needed items to families.

...to everyone who contributed to the Spare Change (or more) Fund and combined to make wishes come true.

...to everyone who posted on a Holiday Helper thread or thumbs-up a Holiday Helper post and kept Holiday Helper on everyone's mind.

...to the lovely Holiday Helper Facilitators (@QueenOfTheMeadow, @tightwaderin, @Poddi, @grisandole, @milagras) who helped make matches between helpers and families

...to all at Mothering, especially @Cynthia Mosher, @AdinaL, and @Melanie Mayo, for supporting Holiday Helper.

I am so joyful.

And Holiday Helper is not over! We will continue into January (exact date to be posted), so that we can keep supporting families and (hopefully!) met 100%. So if you'd like to help, please do!

Happy Holidays everyone!

From FIN #19

I'm behind in my thank yous, so here is a big list :)

Thank you to the mama who sent the doll bunk bed! My dd is going to be so thrilled! I had plans to make some from pinterest instructions, but wasn't sure when I'd manage to find the time to get it done.

Thank you to the mama who sent the doll boots! I sew a lot of outfits for my dd's dolls, but shoes are hard to find used & hard to make. These will work great with the outfits we have!

Super big thanks to the mama {I think - maybe a daddy? - not sure from the name} who sent the heater. And it was even gift wrapped! I was amazed to get something wrapped for myself to put under the tree! I did peak at the card to see what it was, and it will go to very good use. Now I can finally heat the living room during the day & my room at night! We're in our coldest part of the year right now here, and this heater will help a LOT.

And huge thanks to the mamas who are sending Home Depot & Walmart Gift cards. Doesn't matter when they get here they will go to good use. I'm already making my list for both stores & it will go towards caulking windows, replacing light switches so we can quit banging on the wall to get them to come on, window screens and FINALLY after a year of living here getting up proper curtains! If there is anything leftover after those projects, it will go towards putting a small SFG garden in the back yard this spring :) HUGE THANKS!

And I wanted to share - this is a pic of what's waiting for my dd in the morning :) I can't wait to see the look on her face when she gets up. In the wrapped packages with the Santa print are 2 games & undies :) Not shown in the pic is her stuffed stocking, as it was hanging on her bed.

Thank you to all the Holiday helpers who have been such a blessing to me & my daughter this year. Without you it would have been an almost no gifts holiday, and instead I get to give my little girl the number one thing on her list!!

When he said that it brought tears to my eyes happy ones and I said well these snow pants will keep you warm and dry. He was playing fr a long time outside with friends today and it made me so happy that he was warm. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Influenza A hit our house the week before Christmas. I'm sorry these thank yous were delayed.

Thank you to Tia for the trains and shirts and little extras thrown in :)  Your kindness is appreciated.

Thank you for the new swimshirt and fleece pants for my little guys. Both fit great.

BOOTS, I NEW boots.  I haven't had a new pair of shoes in years. THANK YOU ERIN!!!!!!!!  You are wonderful  and your kindness is overwhelming.

Kathryn, I didn't know the jacket was coming for my little guy.  It was a wonderful surprise. It fits him wonderfully and he will be nice and warm playing in the snow and will no longer have to contend with sleeves that are too short and snow getting in by his wrists.   Thank you :)

MP3- THIS is truly life changing for my girl.  She has sensory intregration and Oppositional Defiance Disorder and uses books and sounds to calm her when on the verge of a meltdown.  Her CD player broke.  She will be very excited

Our family is beyond blessed :)  THANK YOU to all of our helpers.

The Gas Card is wonderful.

THANK YOU for the warm up clothes for my daughter. They are perfect.  Thank you for the toaster, my son was so excited to make toast.

My littlest guy, loves his new blanket and sheet set.  How amazing :)

Merry Christmas,

FAMILY 6

Just wanted to thank the whole Holiday Helper crew for a beautiful holiday. Thanks to you all, we had a wonderful holiday dinner (Amazon gift card helped greatly!), and then day was filled with the sounds of children teaching each other to play a Tibetan singing bowl, making art with colorful wool, making drawings and filling new coloring books up with lovely new art pencils, trying on new-to-you clothes and combining them into fun new outfits, and exclaiming over Santa's thoughtfulness in remembering the soon to come new baby with a comfy baby seat and sweet baby hats. A helper let me know that a few items were delayed by bad weather and would be arriving later, so dh and I turned it into a mystery game that the kids all got a huge kick out of ("a few items accidentally fell out of Santa's sleigh somewhere over Greenland! he sent special helper elves to collect them and box them up! let's learn about Greenland and where they might have fallen out, and here's some clues to help you guess what the presents could be....!"), which is helping the holiday fun extend even longer than usual--so awesome! The extreme kindness and sensitivity and generosity of everyone involved with the Holiday Helper program was so touching to me, I think I had an extra holiday glow this year, and was able to nurture and love each family member on a heart level with some extra patience and gratitude, feeling as I did the power of love that can come through this beautiful universe, sometimes even from strangers, far away ....If even strangers can take the time and work to share so much love, I can reach to share even more love with my own family, even when daily stress or my own typical impatience wants to block off that love a little...Just trying to say, I'm inspired by you all...my spirit is nourished, and I'll be paying it forward in little ways probably for a long time.....

Thankyou to whomever sent the sleeping bags, I was totally surprised, I never thought I would actually receive some! These will be well loved.

Thank you to *R&C* who sent the baby clothes and toys for my DS. My sister had a baby boy a couple years ago and I've been using all the hand me downs from him. But he was wearing 12 months in the summer so they won't work for my winter baby. Thank you very much! Also thank you for the SD card!

Thank you to the one that sent the ninja turtled and doll clothes. These were perfect and arrived right on time! Dd and Ds were very excited to receive these.

Thank you to the one that sent the star wars legos and the littlest pet shop with a slide. When I called them out into the kitchen where I opened the box they had no idea it was for more gifts. Dd kinda freaked out in a good way "who got this for me?? How did they know I've always wanted one of these?! Oh Mommy, I just can't believe it!!" Thankyou for making her day!

Thank you to whomever sent the robe, fleece hat, and tank top from the IHA list. These items are all just perfect!

FIN #1 wants to post a very heart felt thank you to those who helped my family this year. I have had a very difficult time getting back on my feet after leaving my abusive ex 5 years ago now. I went from being a stay at home mom to living in a domestic violence shelter with my little ones. We walked away with only a few belongings and during the divorce process my ex got rid of everything I had ever owned but in the end I won sole custody so it didn't seem to matter. However, starting over with several small children has been harder then I could ever imagine. I struggle daily to keep the utilities on, to keep food on the table, and a roof over our heads. Holidays bring me great stress because I never know how I will provide for everyone. Along the way I have lost friends who can't bear the hardships we endure. I lost many friends who watched me leave and get back with  my ex many times before I finally left for good. I was judged but no one can truly understand the depths of it unless you have been there yourself. Leaving was harder then being in the relationship. Five years later here I am still struggling. People tend to judge me because I am a single parent to so many lil ones but I never in my life thought I would be doing this alone. We spent the last six months homeless and we finally are back in a home. I am working two jobs and finishing my degree but it still is not enough. I am literally fighting to keep our electricity on right now. So here comes my thank you...I want to thank those families who took the time to read our story and choose us to help out this holiday season. Erin and Erin you both helped my family in such a huge way..the clothes for my youngest daughter was amazing, she desperately needed some warm clothes and my teen aged son needed a warm hoodie so badly (and he has been wearing it daily!!). The baby doll is well loved and the lego set adored. It may not seem much to others but all of the socks were hugely needed and the jewelry is being worn by my oldest daughter. She actually didn't have anything under the tree so the jewelry was perfect. She loves the bracelets and earrings. She is special needs and has the hardest time with the holidays so thank you so much for thinking of her. This holiday we didn't have much but the things that you all sent were cherished...thank you!

I just want to tell my very special helper that the 2 throw blankets from llbean arrived safe and sound, and I am in LOVE with them! Not only are the huge and softer than some sort of longer hair breed, freshly-bathed, newborn, purebred puppy, but they are the most soothing shade, like a latte. And there are 2 of them!!!! Goodbye, living room chill! So practical, yet so indulgent....It's like a vacation in a rectangle. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

A Big Thanks goes out to the helper who sent the Dora DVD to her also..And it was so sweet that you wrapped it for her..She was so excited when I pulled it out and took it and put it under the tree herself...

Thank you to the Mama who sent the pay-as-you-go cell phone for my 18 year old.  You have no idea how much of a need this was for my son and my family, plus, he seems to really be enjoying using it!  :)

Thank you to the Mama who sent the storage bin for my 18 year old.  It's nice to see his room getting cleaned up.  He likes it, too.

Thank you to the Mama who sent the fleece pajamas for my 9 year old.  Being in the Northeast, he's really making use of them this week!

Thank you to the Mama who sent the clip-on earrings for 6 my year old.  I don't think she's taken them off since she got them!

Thank you to the Mama who sent the book, Dr. Sleep for me.  I've been dying to read that book since before it was released and it was so good, I finished it in 3 days!  Not to worry, though- it's a Stephen King book, so I'll likely read it a hundred times, and then read it again.  lol

Thank you to the Mama who sent the twin sized bed sheets.  There's nothing like the feel of new sheets when you're falling asleep.

Thank you to the Mama who sent the winter hats for my family.  My boys wear hats almost constantly, my girls lose hats faster than we can keep track of.  Now, we have a whole stash to last a while.

Thank you to my Mothering Friend from PA for the wonderful box brimming with things for our whole family! The duvet cover is wonderful, the clothes will be SO enjoyed by my older girls, and the baby swaddler, socks, and onesis are adorable and will probably be used almost daily! I think your box arrived several days ago...We were ill and I just picked it up to day, or rather, it "picked me up" I should say, because it totally erased the gloom of the post-flu household...Thank you, Mama!!!
