Mattress pad protector...waterproof w/o sweating?

UGH Help me! I traded in my comfortably useless pad protector for a waterproof pad that made us sweat ALL night long. It's horrible! : My word, how could anyone actually use one of those. : So, I'm bringing it back to Fred Meyers and praying they'll refund it somehow.


Now,what?

My poor mattress was getting hammered every time someone puked or peed. I need something thick but NOT PLASTIC!

i use a wool mattress pad. haven't had any sweating problems. i found mine on ebay for $60. hth.

ahhh, Ebay. I'd heard of wool, but I can't find it anywhere in town. I was actually thinking of going to army/navy.

Uh, yeah. They're not cheap. LOL.

Maybe you could make one. Maybe get some wool yarn and knit/crochet one. Problems being 1) wool yarn isn't cheap, and you would need a lot, and 2) your name is BusyMommy so I doubt you have mountains of free time knit an entire mattress pad.

Go to an army surplus store and get one of those old, ugly wool blankets :LOL. It should work, although I haven't tried it myself. I just learned to live with a stained mattress :

Hi Busy Mommy. I had this problem too. I put a regular mattress pad on top of my waterproof pad and that did the trick. It's very comfortable & no more sweating.
