What to say when people say, "You're so LUCKY you can be a SAHP!"

I work from home so it actually gives me a great opportunity to tell a new person about my business. But I was wondering what others' say when asked?

I wanna know what do YOU say when someone says "You're so LUCKY you can be a SAHP!"?

I say that while I feel very blessed that we are able to live off one income, it was a big decision and we make many sacrifices to make it work. A lot of people seem to think that we must make tons of money for me to be able to stay at home when that really isn't the case at all.

I don't think of it as lucky per se, more lucky and good planning and everything else that goes into decisions like that.

Sometimes I say I don't believe in luck, we just make it work. I think I deserve a little more credit than being the benefactor of blind, stupid luck. I choose my path, I do what I need to to make my goals happen, just like anyone else. People wouldn't usually say you are 'lucky' to have any other job in the same way they say it about SAHM's. Not in a way that would imply they didn't earn their position in the company, or they hadn't worked hard to acheive whatever success they had.

I am lucky as long as stbx and I share finances..we made it work on 1 income, dont think I can make it work on no income though. :/

Even if I have been having a crummy day I say, it's great to give my family 100%.

I just say " yes, I am lucky" I don't need to say more. If we get in a conversation about it then I will say we make the sacrifice to make it work and budget for everything!

"Thanks I agree"

I say yes I'm fortunate that we can make it work. If we go on from there, I also point out that full time daycare would eat up 2/3 of my income and now that I have 2, it would actually cost me money to work.
