We're awake, anyone else?

I can't be the only one with an awake baby right now on the East Coast. DS has been up since 3AM just chatting away...

Discussion of sleep habits/routines? DS is 6 months and while he usually doesn't wake up to play in the middle of the night he does still wake up 3-4 times between when he goes to sleep and when he's up for the day. We don't really have a set routine, but he generally goes down between 830 and 10pm to wake up between 730 and 930am. We try to keep him in his crib, although when I'm too tired to sit up and rock him he usually ends up in our bed. Any suggestions to make our lives easier? What do you do? Who else is awake?

I'm awake, although still pg with my baby...just couldn't sleep.  It's so darn dry here and my nose feels stuffed up, so can't breath well.  My older 2 never slept well until they got much older.  They'd be waking up to nurse all night long.  I kept a bassinet next to the bed for a while, but they always ended up just sleeping with us, and that's how I got through the night, as I didn't have to be fully awake to nurse them if they were in bed with me.  I don't know how one can go to another room and rock their baby several times in the middle of the night.  I'm sure I'd just fall down the stairs or something and be half sleep walking, LOL.  Good luck, they do eventually start sleeping better...doesn't seem like it will ever happen when they're babies though!

My 5 month old thinks 4 am is a good wake up time but he likes going go bed at 5:30-6 pm. I keep hoping to push it later to stay in bed till 5 am but it hasn't worked out yet.... Babies!

DS goes to bed around 7. We usually start bedtime around 6:30 or so depending on when he gets fussy and tired. Our routine consists of getting him in a clean diaper and jammies. Then we put on his sleep sack and sing a song to him 3 times. Then we sit in the rocking chair and nurse until he falls asleep. I put his lovey between us so he can play with it while nursing and the I put it in bed with him. We have been doing it for a while and he now seems to anticipate it. He is excited to eat when we get ready. He is 4 1/2 months old. He had a rough spell at 3 months where sleeping was hard and bad, but it's gotten a lot better now that he can roll over well and he sleeps in his crib. Babies change so much and their sleep is always evolving and sometimes it gets worse and then it gets better.

I'm going to try putting the lovey between us when I nurse him before bed... What a great idea!

It is supposed to remind them of you and help them sleep because it smells like you. You can also wear it in your shirt for a while to kind of recharge it. Good luck!
