Legal home-birth in NC?

I'm having trouble understanding home birth laws in North Carolina, so I thought I would come over here and ask the experts. Are there midwives currently practicing in North Carolina (specifically the piedmont triad area) that legally attend home births?

I can clarify this for you! In North Carolina, there are currently only 4 legal homebirth midwives serving the entire state. Here, only CNMs can legally practice. CPMs are currently recognized as illegal until legislation changes. (That's a whole other ongoing saga.) Serving your area is Nancy Harman, CNM with Birthwise. You can find contact info here: https://facebook.com/pages/Birthwise-of-Central-NC/274342755952941 Depending on what side of the Piedmont you live, another legal midwife covers some of the southern part – Donna Galati, CNM at Monarch Midwifery. Her contact info: http://monarchmidwifery.com If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help! Feel free to PM me. (I work for one of the legal homebirth midwives here in NC and am also birthing with one of them.)
