Help with types of CM? *TMI alert*

Good morning,

For some time now I've had some confusion about my cm. I always think its all egg-white...but now I'm realizing I may have been wrong and that there may be different TYPES of egg-white?

The first day of CM it is usually thicker and almost cloudy and has a lot of what I call 'snap-back' quality to it...which I imagine is termed "sticky?"

TMI example: usually happens after "dropping kids at pool" I'll attend to the areas. After wiping the front a blob with lots of snap back quality is usually there and that is the cloudier variety.

Then typically the 2nd day is similar with less of it then day 3 less but very clear and much thinner than first two days. Is THAT the egg-white cm? Then typically there is a day of watery...I'm pretty sure this is the type of CM that indicates you are your most fertile yes? No?

I guess I think of egg-whites as thick and gloppy in their raw state but when mine is clear its definitely softer and thinner but still has stretch...

So anyone who can help shed some light would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Signed,

"True" Egg White will stretch a few inches. If it barely stretches at all it might be more sticky-ish.

Also, sometimes my EWCM will stretch a few inches, and at its height, I can be peeing and it will stretch from my vagina all the way into the toilet! So we're talking like 6 inches or more! Then some days I have CM that I want to think is stretchy, but it has that snap back quality and is not clear. So I don't consider that fertile CM. But when mine is true EWCM, it is clear, very stretchy, and very slippery when I wipe. Think kind of like when a child has a severe runny nose (but not yellow/green). Kind of like that....

Thank you for replying WifeofAnt!

I had that one patch of 'cloudy' sticky and then a weensy bit of clear yest but now today nothing and I'm on cycle day 12. I usually ovulate between 12 - 14. So I'm imagining today/tomorrow there should be egg white starting up!

Here's hoping!

IMO, I think the EWCM should start up prior to O: example, for me, this cycle, I O'd on CD 17 or 18, and I had EWCM starting CD12 and it continued thru CD16. On CD17 it started reverting back to non fertile CM.

Thanks rosie2727!

Ok yes the only thing I really knew was that once it turned egg white/to watery you were your most fertile but I never knew if that initial patch of cloudier stickier was considered egg white. Because I'll usually get the most volume of mucus on that day. The egg white etc is much less in volume so I was thinking I had it all wrong this whole time. :Sheepish

It's funny too because it would seem that usually the day before I ovulate (I'm just putting this together over last 3 months now that I'm temping/charting etc. because I put it in my notes section) that suddenly all the boys who typically walk by my office door on a mission stop dead in their tracks back up and stop in to say hi and make small talk - which I find hilarious. Its like they have no idea whats happening to them but mother nature is surely at work with a scent only they can pick up on. My husband usually gets more amorous around this time too. Isn't nature cool!?

Yeah, there was something that the waist to hip ratio is actually altered a little during ovulation (along with a slight blush of the lips and a few other things), making women slightly more attractive.

Crickets -- I have found in the last few years that my window of EWCM is really small, only around a day, and I don't have a lot. All my other signs indicate I'm ovulating (opk, cycle length, O pain). I try to give my cervix a boost (and some TMI here) by really getting into the mood for BD before we get started. I always have a LOT of EWCM when I'm aroused, and that's what the swimmers need.

Good luck to you!

Thanks WifeofAnt (totally I get the blushy lips!) and PrimalJoy (also totally get the extra cm with arousal method!!)

This cycle has been WONKY-tonk.

My chart is all over the place (the eve of cd 14 I tossed and turned all night so that COULD explain the spike?) and this was my first month using OPKs. So I was fairly certain that I was going to ovulate around 13/14. I got the blaringly obv. opk on 14th day of cycle. From the little I understand about OPKs you must wait for the positive to be darker than control and it was on 14. Then my temps went up all over the place and I was so obsessed (I'll admit it - but isn't it supposed to be FUN anyway?) with baby dancing that night that DH just completely shut down (felt like all I wanted was a baby and didn't care about him...oy) and we got into huge fight. :-( Was crushed because I knew it would have been IDEAL.

So we're just on the mend and now my chart is baffling me and I'm not sure if I've actually o'ed yet? This would be really late for me though. I typically have on days 12/13/14 but 14 being the latest....I'm baffled but I'm giving up for this cycle. Perhaps not meant to be...

My OPK this morn was equal in color but not less yet...could I have had or might I be having a second surge?

Serenity now..

OH! and might add Saturday/Sunday afternoons I had ridiculous amounts of stretchy perfect EWCM...wha?? I typically don't get that much!
