long time no see!

Hi all,

Thought I'd pop in and say hi. I haven't been around since early on when the babies were born, and I regret not keeping in touch! The boys are doing great, both are extremely tall and Owen is even getting his first tooth! They will be 7 months next week. Owen has to have surgery for a dermoid cyst under his forehead and Wyatt has to wear a helmet for plagiocephaly, but otherwise they are fun little babies and like to laugh and roll onto each other and grab faces. The first 4 months were extremely hectic with Owen being colicky but we survived (he is still a very difficult baby). I am recovering from my c section well but still struggle with my ab muscle separation. It prevents me from being able to work out more than walking briskly. bah. I need to go back to the PT and see what my options are.

Questions:

Do we have a Facebook group? The April group does and we are all pretty active there so I hope I am not missing out here!

Does anyone know what happened to timesway? I feel like a stalker but I just remember her very specifically as an active member and don't remember if she had her baby and how she is doing.

Owen on the left and Wyatt on the right showing off my wraps lol

Hey jessmn, I was actually thinking about you the other day! Glad to hear your boys are doing well and the colicky stage is over for Owen. I actually have an appointment in early December to see if one or both (probably just Alice if at all) need to get a helmet too, so we'll see, my pediatrician wasn't too worried, but figured I better go just in case so who knows. I need to talk to someone about my c-section recovery, I seem to be doing fine, but I'm not doing anything special besides some lotion and I do sometimes feel "weird" when I lift something heavy or twist a weird way. Your boys are adorable, look at those chubby cheeks and big smiles smile.gif and your wraps are pretty too!

I don't think there is a facebook group, but correct me if I am wrong folks. Maybe we should start one? Can't help with timesway either as I wasn't on the forums for awhile after my babies arrived either.

Sooooo cute! By the way, love the blue scales sling! I'd be down with starting a Facebook group. smile.gif

I will let you know how it goes! The helmet appt is today,we had the assessment at Children's hospital a week ish ago now. He's got a moderate case but she said that since it hasn't changed at all since 2 months it likely won't change again by 8 months so we might as well start now and cut out some helmet wearing time (sooner you start, shorter they have to wear it). And we knew we'd choose to have him wear one anyways, so we decided to ahead. Apparently there are a few different kinds of helmets, some requiring more wearing time than others. I'll find out today!

I do have that "weird" feeling when lifting occasionally, too, or bending funny or sometimes when I am rushing. It's like a pulling feeling. I think it is adhesion of the scar tissue and I'm not sure if scar massage would help this far down the road or not (I wish they had discussed that when I had the surgery! seems kind of important!)

I think we should start one!

thanks! I love that ring sling! I just got another - purple linen dinos :) I'm done now, though, I swear... ;)

Who wants to be the admin of a Facebook group? In the other I am in, we have a pinned post where we all announced our username here with our real identity so we can tell who is who. Otherwise we just share pictures, ask questions, etc. It's laid back and lots of fun.

Just out of curiosity, is your insurance covering the helmet? I know sometime they don't want to unless it is pretty severe. Anyway, let me know! Both of my kids' have gotten better, Oliver's a lot and Alice's a little, so I'm hoping maybe no helmet, but we'll get one if we need to no problem. Curious to see how your appointment goes.

Oh yeah, the scar tissue massage, my OB said to start doing that maybe 2-4 months out IIRC? So I'm still doing it now too when I put on my lotion. I don't think I have too many adhesions left, but I don't really know. It just feels like things are loose in there, like everything is still not back where it should be. I tried to talk to my OB about it at my pap appointment I just had, but she was like "Everything looks good!" and didn't give much direction beyond that. It also feels likes more nerves were reconnecting down there too. I have to say, vaginal birth last time was so much easier and simpler to recover from. My tear felt weird for awhile, but otherwise everything was pretty straightforward. With this I just want to make sure I'm recovering ok, I really don't care about what my scar looks like which is what I sometimes think they think I'm asking about, you know? The weirdness is just weird. I should ask my Aunt who's had 7 c-sections, she can probably help smile.gif

I don't want to admin the facebook group, but I will definitely join!

Hi there!

My little one was born in June- her name is Meadow Anne.

I'd love a fb group!!

Hey Jess, good to hear from you!  Glad the twins are doing well!  I developed a bit of a carrier addiction too, after DS1 was born.  I have 7 counting my hiking backpack!  My go-to is really my Ergo though, but I did use the wrap until Sander was about 3 months old.  I was even carrying DS1 who is 3.5yrs in the Ergo at the zoo a couple weeks ago and it was still totally comfortable.

I would love a FB group too, I can be an admin.  Can there be more than 1 admin?  Might be good to have 2 people on it.  I am FB friends with 2 ladies who were in my DD club when I was expecting DS1 and it's fun to still know what is going on with them.

Oh, and someone was asking about Stephanie (aka Timesway).  She dropped off a month and a half or so before our DDs, back in March I think but last posted April 28 in the "I'm in labor" thread.  I hope she's ok too!

I could be an admin, too. smile.gif

I've had to get my babywearing addiction in check, too. I love my Didytai and Didymos wrap usually, but got a Tula...for my husband. wink1.gif I like it because it's easy to pop Malcolm on my back, but Phil wears him in it all the time now. Hooray for daddy friendly carriers.

yeah, they are covering 80%...I don't know how much it is going to be exactly, though! I think they are like $3,500 :/ There's a scale of 4 with 4 being the worst, and Wyatt's is between a 2 and a 3. He hasn't shown any change for the better so the doctor was like, If you would choose to do this at 8 months (when they normally decide one way or another) then you might as well do it now so he can wear it for less time. It's still going to be like 3 months, though :( The appt was uneventful, they did an assessment of how much variation there was and what was misshapen including his facial features. Then they took a scan of his head and it's being sent off to a lab to create the helmet. We should get it in two weeks (normally 1 week but with the holidays next week it's delayed). I'll keep you updated!

hmmmm I guess it doesn't sound too late for me to start doing the massage! Can't hurt I guess. I do know what you mean by loose, and yeah, I think sometimes the doctor misinterprets what the real question is. Like, WHAT IS GOING ON IN THERE!? haha

yeah I don't really wrap a lot, mostly just at home or if we go on a walk or are doing something kind of leisurely. If we're running into a store or something then I use the ring slings or the Tula (we just got it so it's not in this picture). I love that you can wear a 3.5 year old, especially for a trip like the zoo!

I think we can have more than one admin for sure. Some groups I am a part of have like 10! yay I'm so glad you volunteered! :)

huh. She was soooo active! I hope she's okay. I wish there was a way to check in but I guess we'll never know unless she comes by.

hahahaha I TOTALLY got the Tula for my husband. And then promptly started wearing it and gave him the Ergo (that I am supposed to be trying to sell). HA! :P The pattern I got has whales on it and it's just wayyyy too cute and easy to use. Johnny wears the babies when he's at home with them by himself and sends me selfies. It's so cute. And of course everywhere we go, because we each have a baby.

I'm so glad I checked in with you all!! I am terrible about participating with the monthly chats but I hope to keep in touch and see you all around FB!

I'd be interested in joining the FB group!  Actually, @jessmn, I was thinking about joining the April FB group because DD ended up being born on 4/21 so she's a bit older than quite a few of the babies here.

Regarding @timesway - has anyone sent her a PM?  I've thought about her a lot as well.  Kept hoping she would drop in when I posted in one of her old threads.

Speaking of babywearing husbands, check out my DH's visor....

oh wow yeah your DD was born even earlier than my boys! (4/24)!

haha nice hat :) Are you guys Husky fans??

I didn't know you could tag people, sweet @Kate&Joey !!!

Malcs was born early, too. 4/16. I think the triplets were the earliest in our group.
@jessmn good to hear your insurance is covering most of it, I think mine well, but DH is all worried they won't. Either way, if we are getting it we are getting it this year because for the first time ever (and hopefully only time ever) we've used all our deductible, so they should cover even more of it because of that. Thanks for the info on it, I'll keep you updated on our appointment too, we're scheduled for 12/9. And yeah, I don't think it is too late to start on massage. It is like pulling teeth sometimes to get how to care for this advice from doctors, they just forget to tell you I think and the discharge papers from the hospital only had the immediately after c-section care stuff, not the down-the-road stuff. I only knew to ask because my brothers have both been through surgery and my first brother they gave no info to at discharge and then were asking him why he wasn't doing X, Y & Z at a followup eyesroll.gif

I have no clue on how to do facebook groups, but if one of you wants to start one and set the other as admin too (if that's possible) then that sounds good to me!

@Quinalla It actually is less expensive than I feared! More like $1500. We are getting a purple helmet and decorating it like a UW Huskies football helmet! :)

okay I will go ahead and start one but some of you guys have to promise to be admins :P I will try to do it tonight.

Jess, just saw your post.  I tried to create a group this afternoon.  I need to add some other users as friends in order to create the group.  Can anyone who's interested in joining send me their FB info so we can become "friends" and thus create the group?  Thanks!
