Birthing in a Spa Bath?

Would it be possible to birth in a spa bath?  Any reason why not?

Good question and I do not know. Have you found an answer? Does anyone know? Bumping your question in case it was over looked.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you thinking about a hot tub or your own bathtub?

I had my last child at the midwives birth room. It had a big oval bathtub and worked perfectly. I think that is ideal. The blow up birth pools are a good option if your tub is not big enough

Jets can be difficult to get truly clean. That's the main drawback I know of. If they aren't actually required for use of the tub, you could just seal them off before filling. Or you can google around for instructions on sterilizing them.

I have a large jetted bath tub (jets don't work) and plan on grabbing some plastic sheeting to line it, maybe even tossing some pillows under it. Ipprobably won't birth in it anyway. I've always ended up getting out to push since it never felt right in the water. Still, I'm all about preparedness!
