To test or not to test...

Hi! I hope I can ask this question in such a way that makes sense...

I have been TTC since March and had a failed IVF in July/August. We have continued trying naturally. So, every cycle, I temp and OPK. My cycles are usually 26 days (O around CD15, 10-11 day Luteal phase). This cycle I didn't have positive OPK until CD22 and it was only a one day surge. Temping and Fertility Friend show that I ovulated on CD 23. So I am trying to figure out when I can take first HPT. Logically, I feel like I can't do it until 14 days after O, but I was calculating it on countdowntopregnancy.com and it says I can check as early as tomorrow since I will already be late according to my usual cycle. I am torn because the 2WW is torture (as I am sure you are all well aware), but a BFN is heartbreaking. Do I just wait it out or can I really start checking so soon? I just don't see how there would be high enough hCG levels if I only O'd 5 days ago...

You could take one soon, but there is a high chance the test will be wrong if it is too early. You could wait 10 days after O and start testing then. I would only do that if you don't find BFN's terribly depressing because the tests aren't accurate early on. They are much more accurate if you wait. Some people start at 8DPO and just keep testing every day. It depends on your style I suppose. Good luck!
