When can baby go in the middle?

We're back into a safer situation for bedsharing, so baby is back with Mom and Dad.  I've been doing the classic methods with keeping Baby between me and the barrier, but my husband has commented that he likes having her near him.  Husband has spent years sleeping on a cot and thus doesn't move or roll during sleep, so I'm not really worried about him rolling over.  But I still see Dr. Sears' guidelines and want to follow them.

When did y'all put kids in the middle, if ever?

I had all my babies in the middle from birth. When they were really little I usually kept my arm around them. If dad is not using drugs, or excessive alcohol, I don't see the problem...

Since day 1! I flip my LOs back and forth, middle to the outside, as I change sides BFing. I never really worried about the middle other than us both having the blanket up too high and covering baby's face, so I just scoot down and keep my face level with baby's.

Day one here too. We have a king so pleanty of space and when they are newborns I tend to keep my arm around them anyways.

From about Day 3 here, with both of them, but only because we were in hospital before that. I usually leave the baby in her spot and I move side to side for feeding. So half the time they were between DH and me.
