In all my experience it doesn't matter what I did, babies just came when they wanted regardless of how much prelabor tincture, EPO, sex, walking, nipple stim, eggplants and pineapples and cayenne and spicy ginger cookies in which I partook!  So I figure, why go through all that?!  I can feel my cervix just a bit, it's a reach for sure, and it feels soft and very effaced, just maybe 1/4 inch thick?  I didn't feel any prelaborish stuff- bouts of bh and cervical cramping- more until about 38/39 weeks last time, so I'm glad to be comfortable still.

Braxton Hicks contractions woke me up this morning. I took a hot bath and they didn't stop, laid down from 9 am to noon and there were cervical pain and some stronger than I have had in the past Braxton Hicks. Sat on the birth ball and that made things better for awhile, but still had some strong wrapped around my body, felt like being shrunk wrapped feelings again. Maybe this is the beginning?

Definitely sounds like the beginning to me. That's how it was for me for the whole week before my water broke.

How exciting, Lilac!!! Congrats on making it so far with twins!! So many twin pregnancies/births seem to be so medicalized!

It's this one: http://www.mountainmeadowherbs.com/Gentle_Birth_p/g1030.htm

It's one of the few things I've never tried before and I'm determined to help baby come before Christmas :)

I've found I don't like dates plain but if I toss them in smoothies, baked goods, wrapped in bacon, or chopped and mixed with other things (put them in acorn squash with apples and pecans tonight) they are tolerable.  I'm trying to eat pineapple too.  Haven't found good fresh pineapple and I know canned doesn't work but I bought frozen.  A quick google search made it seem like frozen is ok because it still has the enzyme that way.

Lilac, awesome! It might be soon or not but any progress is great!

Where are y'all fining calcium lactate? Will the zinc be effective without it?

Well, up until about 2 p.m. I thought something was going to happen today. DH gave me some great pelvic back massage and the pain ended and the squeezing stopped. Had a few tight belly moments since then, but basically nothing. Had a pleasant afternoon with my family who are visiting all hoping that my babies will come now. Took a bath to get comfortable tonight, but heart burn kept me from sleeping. Now I am eating a snack because I am hungry again.  Humph.

Haha, I know, I'm either eating or dealing with heartburn pretty much 24/7. I should probably stop OJ and coffee in the morning, but I don't have much else I look forward to as much as my morning bevrages wink1.gif

Kali, the calcium lactate that I found was only available in liquid form at my drugstore. Maybe the health food store would have had a better selection, but I was tired. The calcium lactate is supposed to help if you are calcium-deficient, which I probably am, because apart from cheese and milk in my coffee, I don't really eat dairy. I don't honestly know if there is a zinc-calcium connection...may be worth googling!

Enjoy your weekend with your family, Lilac!

I do wonder if there are digestive changes associated with pre-pre-labor . . . I know what the signs of impending labor are, but I swear my digestion seems to be on holiday! Definite heartburn, even from water, even with Papaya enzymes. Also sorta slow from yk, the other vantage point!

I've been told that can happen. Both times for me though, my body cleared itself out before things got going (though I ate a LOT of pineapple and spicy food at the end both times so that may have something to do with it...).

Well lasr night I had bloody show. It was concerning at first since there was no mucous and more red blood than i expected. With DS i lost my mucous plug all at once...and it was just tinged with blood.  I was concerned enough to call the midwife.  She said as long as I was not bleeding like a period everything should be OK. Fortunately, I had no more bright red blood. Twice I have had dark brown blood show up when I wiped.

I had lots of BH and lower back pain last night and was feeling a little like I had labor-mind. I also had lots of emotional breakdowns through the day.

But slept through the night and today has been relatively normal.

Getting excited!

Ooooh earthwalker!! Sounds close!! How far along are you? 39 weeks?

So it seems I've been in early labor for the last 3 or 4 days. At first I thought the contractions are sporadic but yesterday morning I met with my MW and she did a cervical check: almost completely effaced and 5 cm dilated bigeyes.gif! I was really surprised because I didn't find the contractions bothersome at all. I did feel like things are opening up. She then hooked me to the EFM and it was very interesting to see that I what I thought were sporadic contractions were actually regular ones, every 6-8 minutes, each lasting almost a minute!  Baby is doing great though, LOA and there's enough amniotic fluid, so that's assuring. Now we wait...

It's 5:30am here and unfortunately now I'm also feeling back pain :(. I was hoping to not have that this time around. At least sitting on the birthing ball helps with it...

Well I wasn't expecting to be posting here for a while (at least not with my own symptoms-35.5 weeks today) but I've been spotting since last night. I was standing talking to DP and I felt a little "gush" which really isn't that unusual at this point, it's happened occassionally but I can never tell if it's excess discharge or just a little pee. When I went to the bathroom it turned out to be bright red blood. It wasn't a lot so I just put a pad on and went to bed. Used a pad all day today and there hasn't been anything on it but there's usually some bright red whenever I wipe. No unusual cramps or contractions aside from what I've been having for weeks already and baby girl is moving all over like usual. I talked to my MW and she said it's probably just some cervical changes happening since it's not heavy bleeding and I'm not having any cramping. I have an appointment on Monday so I'll have her check me to maybe tell what's going on. I've never had any vaginal checks during any of my previous pregnancies prior to labor but this time I feel like this warrants one. I'm wondering if it's because I've been taking the Gentle Birth tincture for about a week now. Not that I think it's going to make labor start any earlier but maybe it's actually working to make some changes already.

I need to get some more dates. I've found I only like medjool dates, not the California dates. A couple of dates and a handful of almonds has been a snack staple for me.

Earthwalker and Lilac, sounds like things are gearing up for you guys!! I hope someone has their baby soon...I'm getting ansy for another new one to join our group!

yes! sounding close you three! Lily: 5 cm?!?! thats great! I remember the last time getting to that point took forever! I'm going to have to stop myself from checking this thread compulsively…

Yay, I'm so glad things are getting started for some of you! It's officially December here (almost 1am). I had quite a few hard contractions today, but when I tried to time them, I only had one in 45 minutes. One that made me almost break my husband's hand, but still just one. Sigh.
It is almost December here. I have it in my head that this is my last full week before I have a newborn. I need to clean, for sure, I got new sheets tonight, for me, so my baby could be impressed. lol.gif

My baby tries to get out, I can tell, but my uterus is totally silent. 39 weeks Thurs. I think we have the same due date Michelle!
Yep, I think we do. I'm 39 weeks on Thursday, too.
39 weeks on Thu as well... :-)
