Will you save your pre-pregnancy clothes for after the baby comes?

Hi ladies,

I'm very torn about what to do with my pre-pregnancy tops and jeans. I don't fit in them anymore and feel silly saving them for a while year until - maybe - I'll fit in them again. On top of that I'm moving in 1.5 month and my urge is to just get rid of it all. At the same time, I don't have the money to buy a whole new wardrobe after baby.

BTDT moms: any advice, suggestions, recommendations, personal experience???

I would save them. Though it's a pain to pack them up, move, and everything, I wouldn't have money to buy all new clothes again either. I would definitely purge anything you haven't worn in a very long time/don't really like or something but otherwise save the rest. and if you need to buy some new clothes down the road, it won't be a whole new wardrobe at once.

I'd save them for sure. A whole new wardrobe is expensive. It might be a good time to purge things you don't want, but yeah, it's not silly to keep them. I fit into most of my old clothes within 3 months, and all of them within a year after my last birth.

I'd definitely save them, though it may be a good opportunity to weed out things you don't really like or wear much anyway. And since you're not using them now you can get them packed early!

With DD I put on about 55 lbs but then lost 60 so I ended up buying some new clothes anyway, but it was nice to have clothes that fit (at least somewhat) during the weight loss since I wasn't trying to do it quickly.

Yes I'd definitely say save them too. I've actually never heard of someone getting rid of their pre-pregnancy clothes, unless it was post post-partum and they didnt fit anymore. But this early in the game I would say you want to hold on to them.

Thank you ladies! I'll keep most of them. I've been going through and getting rid of some I hadn't worn in months,so it'll be a smaller pile when I move. I think it was just frustrated for not fitting into my usual outfits and feeling like I had nothing to wear, coupled with the move, that made me want to get rid of it all! :innocent

It is a weird experience to not fit into any of your favorite clothes, especially if its your first baby. I just label and pack them away though. I gained tons but still fit back into everything after every pregnancy. It did take almost a year though, (for me, dieting compromised my supply so I just accepted the weight), so it's nice to be kind to yourself and buy or borrow a couple of cute pieces in your postpartum size so you dont have to wear your maternity stuff until then if you need time to lose the weight. I would spend my $$ on that instead lf a whole new wardrobe!
