Staying active - Page 2

Thread Starter

@Farmes94  I was still doing Crossfit workouts and 100 pound back squats at 38 weeks, so there's no time you NEED to slow down unless your body is telling you to.  Movements involving jumping, for example, I couldn't do after 20 weeks, but I kept doing almost anything else.

I've definitely been struggling recently with staying active.  I think I need to rejoin myfitnesspal.com or something to keep me accountable.  I did a 25 minute cycling workout and 30 minutes of weights last night and then a 10 minute kettlebell workout this morning, but I'm also eating a ton and not really working out consistently.  I really need to get back on track.  I think I've already gained close to 10 pounds, which is definitely NOT where I wanted to be at 10 weeks.  Hopefully we can all keep each other accountable.  HELP!  :)

I was going to skip the gym tonight, but you talked me into it. Thanks. :)

I love to walk.  I used to go to the gym and also run a lot but I've come a long way in regards to my relationship to movement and that has allowed me to slow down and really enjoying my movement activities.  It doesn't feel like a struggle for me anymore, and I can walk anytime, anywhere, with whoever I am with.  I don't need any special clothes or equipment.  I'm also trained as a yoga instructor (although its been years since I've taught) but I love getting on my mat and moving.  I also don't feel any resistance to doing that because it feels so good and I'm not "pushing" myself like I did for so many years.

I am so slacking! The weather has been preventing walking or running outside and I have a really hard time getting motivated to do videos indoors and the gym isn't in the budget right now. Been eating terrible too between thanksgiving and my birthday...I'm afraid to get on the scale :-/

You are all so great here! I really wish I would have this energy.

There is no real me-time until the kids are in bed after 7pm. By that time I am so exhausted that I just cannot get myself to do the easiest work-out. Especially now in winter time when it gets dark so soon. There are no good classes being offered nearby either. I would like to pick up on Qi Gong and Yoga excercises again. During my first pregnancy I was quite active and it felt so great. When I was pregnant with my second, I could not even walk a 1/4 mile without having to lay down and rest. I always had the feeling I could not breathe. I tried some exercises then and could not do more than 5 minutes at a time due to becoming short of breath and being so exhausted. Now this pregnancy is totally different again. But when I get up in the morning, the kids wake up instantly no matter how quiet I try to be. I walk a lot with the kids but not by myself and then I really don't consider it much of a work out. I tried to integrate the kids into a workout routine but that did not work either. Any suggestions? What do you do with your kids when you work out?

Same deal here...It's usually close to 8 before I have any time to myself to work out.  And I'm too tired then to do an hour on the treadmill.  This time I find it helps to do little things.  Take a quick stroll around the office, go up and down the stairs a few times, do some curls when I am watching TV.  Any little bit...any stretch, and movement, is better than sitting there doing nothing :)

We often just walk together.  Being fun and silly helps too, we'll chase each other, walk like a bear, do BIG steps then little steps, skip, walk backward, etc.  We also like to take turns jump roping and hula hooping.  Sometimes we go to a trail that doesn't allow cars and they will ride their bikes while I walk.
