The argument that annoys me most of all

It's annoying when people are very mainstream and are shocked that a person would question vaccines (among other things). But we live in a mainstream society, so I can get over it. It's annoying to hear misinformation ("But it's against the law not to get your kids their shots!") but again, we live in a society that thrives on spoonfed misinformation, so I can get over it.

No, what truly gets under my skin are those people who have just enough information to be dangerous but not enough to be informed. Those who, upon hearing that you plan to not vaccinate, say knowingly, "You do know that thimerosol has been removed from vaccines, don't you?" As if there is no other objection that a person may have, that the fact that a known TOXIN has been *mostly* removed after all this time is somehow a victory (never should have been in it to begin with, imo). As if aluminum, formalin, and neomycin are nothing more than salt, sugar, and flour.

That annoys me. It annoys me so badly. If you are going to bother to read enough to learn that thimerosol is no longer widely used, why not inform yourself of other dangers of vaccine ingredients?

Meh. You can tell I just off the phone with a relative, right? :LOL

Too funny. I was thinking the same things today (read my other post).
What's even scarier is that those same people use the same "strategy" to "research" all KINDS of things.

Lemmings I tell you. Lemmings.

Ds new Doc did come out with "You know the MMR shot does not cause Autism". BS. but I replied (truthfully) "Autism has nothing to do with why I do not vaccinate". He then so "Oh, good."

Actually, I hate when people don't vax simply due to MMR/Autismlink...please let thatpossibility open your eyes to even more troubling news about vaxing!!

The one that annoys me most of all is the "it was once thought that vaccines *might* have something to do with autism, but now we have allllllll these studies showing that they don't". I hate that every news piece on Autism I see mentions the "fact" that vaccines have been studied and exonerated. Give me a freaking break.

Lemmings don't really follow eachother off cliffs, by the way: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/03304/235522.stm

My ped mentioned the autism study "retraction" during the office visit when we declined vaccines. She also mentioned that the study's authors are being sued by the vaccine manufacturer. Well... of course they're retracting the study. Who wants to be sued by the giant PharmaCorps? Sounds like blackmail to me.

I hate that argument also, but it's even worse coming from a ped! When I told my old ped I was delaying/questioning vax she said to me "do you eat tuna? there's mercury in that too ya know." before I even said anything, she musta assumed I was gonna say thimerasol etc and had her argument ready :

BTW why does everyone use the 'tuna argument' as a reasoning it's ok for thimerasol to be in vax. How many newborn, 2, 4, 6 month old babies eat tuna?? Especially a whole can a week like they say is so bad for you (of course now they say even less is but that was what was starting to come out as bad when I had my first kid).

From my understanding, mercury toxicity is cumulative in the body - so every little bit you are exposed to builds up, evetually causing problems. One good reason to avoid mercury FROM ANY SOURCE, including vaccines!

I really hate that too. And I have a SIL that upon hearing that I don't fully vax said "That's dangerous!" OMG. She's an elementary school teacher and she thinks she knows everything there is to know about that stuff. On top of that her father is a doctor and so everything he says is right...daddy's never wrong you know...and he said not vaccinating is dangerous. I get pissed just thinking about seeing her at our next family gathering.

And her father gave my son (who is suspected, but not yet dx'd, with autism) a clean bill of health saying that if he smiles at people then he's not autistic! Wow, he said my son is fine without even seeing him! What a MIRACLE!!!

Ok, I have to calm down. I just wanted to say that I know exactly how you feel!

Tuna??? TUNA???

We have had tuna 4 times since I got pregnant with DS. Maybe a dozen at the absolute most times.

I _HATE_ tuna.

Salmon on the other hand....

Did you notice a change in your son after being vaccinated or was he born with the autism syndrome? Just wondering because...

My first grandson (almost fully vaccinated) did not smile till age 1 year. We never told the ped but we were worried. He is 6 now and seems fine.

But my second grandson who had no shots or meds so far, his mother had a natural water birth, is smiling at age of 6 weeks. And it's not accidental, it's in response to our smile.

I am sorry we vaccinated our first grandson without being informed.
