Your situation?

Hey y'all,

I am new to this board, i am a single SAHM to a wonderful 13 mo. old girl. and hoping to start school in the fall.
Well i know that this might be kinda personal, but i was wondering if anyone wanted to share their situation that made them a single parent?
Mine is that dd's father is in prison for a very long time. Its very hard b/c he was the one and i even have a hard time thinking of dating again. i have been without him since Aug 2002. We got pg in June 2002, then trouble struck!!!
well share if you like, if not i totally understand. I dont always like to talk about it either.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Good luck with your school endeavor. I know what you mean about the dating thing, I have no intention of doing it anytime soon (like for the next decade!). A couple of weeks ago we started a Roll Call thread where lots of us single mamas introducted ourselves and many described the circumstances to our becoming single. You should check it out!

In the interest of answering your question directly, I'm single because my unstable husband couldn't handle the pressure of becoming a parent and started drinking again the day our daughter was born. He became an alcoholic, abusive, unstable nightmare and I fled with my daughter and her diaper bag when she was 4 months old! She is now 22 months, and we are doing ok. I'm in school too, and will be a Preschool teacher next semester (as soon as I find a job!).
