We were out of eggs, so DH got himself and the kids breakfast sandwiches this morning, and we bought Cokes to go with dinner tonight (a rare treat, but still an extra $2). Otherwise I did pretty well at the grocery store, with lots of food for just $60 (including stocking up on GF bread with a sale and coupons, woohoo!). I also spent $75 on gas gift cards and $25 on a Christmas gift card for my grandmother (Olive Garden), and in exchange, I got $15 to spend next week at the same grocery store. The Olive Garden card I was going to buy anyway, and the gas gift cards will just fall under the gas budget, so that's a free $15! That will buy whatever extras I need to fill in the gaps around my freezer/pantry-based meals.
Tomorrow I have to pay for our monthly pottery class, and that's budgeted, but this is always a spending trigger for me, because the timing is weird and because there's an amazing bakery right down the street that we find it very hard to resist. DD8 reminded me tonight to pack snacks tomorrow, so I guess if the 8-year-old can control herself, I can too, LOL!
