I'm pretty certain the cycle we conceived DS I didn't get a +OPK until after I had ovulated (ovulated in the early hours of the morning). I was only testing once a day but my cervix was going back to inhospitable by the time the positive came. Luckily, we had already DTD a few times and DS showed up 38 weeks later.
That was interesting about your OPK and it being late compared to O. This month when I got a +OPK I was pretty happy about it and our timing DTD, but now that I'm in the middle of my wait I'm definitely becoming increasingly uncertain...!
naturallymo - huge bummer!
mygreenestgrass - I totally know what you mean about trying to resist the urge - but doing it anyway. I've got all these IC tests and I figure I could wonder ALL DARNED DAY or just POAS and get it over with.
For any of you out there using OPKs, I found this tidbit in one of Clearblue's papers:
Evidence suggests that in conception cycles, ovulation always occurs within 24 hours of peak serum LH, but in non-conception cycles, this is pushed out to up to 48 hours later.
It can take around 6-9 hours for the serum LH to filter into the urine, so by the time your OPK is showing its darkest line that would mean approx 15 hours tops until ovulation (in a conception cycle). Moral of story: if you get a pos OPK, get busy ASAP!
This makes me wonder how babies get made at all. I was all ready worried that we were going to miss our chance when the fertility clinic called up in a panic because I hadn't called in my OPK result for sunday, at which point they decieded to inform me I was supposed to be doing them in the morning all along. Thanks for waiting until the day or my serge to mention this bit of info. I'm trying to take comfort in the fact the FF puts m O the same day as the IUI, It's not working but I keep trying.
4dpo all week I have been having i dunno panic attacks or something. It doesn't seem like the same as the ones I used to have just suddenly out of nowhere it feels like my pulse jumps, stress I guess. Doesn't help that me and hubby are fighting. Boys can be so stupid sometimes. I have been having headaches a little too and then last night i went to bed and got a horriable stabbing pain in my left hipish area. I assume it is all in my head just trying to see proof it worked.
Here's a story for you ladies:
I emailed my doctor last night because all of my blood test results are back and I hadn't heard from him. I wanted to confirm that everything was ok and that we were on track. WELL, it seems my AMH is 4.70 when it should be 1 and he stated that it may indicate signs of PCOS. Now I've never had any complications until the irregular cycles that started over the summer. Which would explain why I have a period one month and don't see it for almost 3 months before I have it again. It just varies. He thinks my issue is primarily weight gain so I have to lose weight. Point blank and period.
I feel some kind of way because he suggested Metformin but I told him I don't want to do any meds until I lose weight and know for sure that we have to take that step.
So there you have it.
tifga - this might be due to norepinephrine (a type of adrenaline) which is signaled in the LP. Sometimes its release is a bit pulsatile and you'll get bursts of increased heart rate, a stronger heart beat, and an edgy feeling. That's totally a normal chemical reaction in your body in the presence of an estrogenized uterus that is under the influence of progesterone.
naturallymo - it's a hard pill to swallow finding out something's up, but at least you aren't wasting time without answers. Best track to weight loss is calorie restriction. Many people think it's exercise, but it just isn't. Exercise helps to maintain (by building extra energy-consuming mitochondria in the muscle cells) but it's very slow for weight loss. If you pair these two, with caloric restriction as your primary method for shedding pounds, it should come off quickly. It's just not fun - keep those soups handy! Good luck to you and I hope you'll keep us updated on your progress!
mygreenestgrass - wow, like we need more to have to wonder about! Hoping for implantation spotting in the biggest way. We'll see how things look tomorrow I guess. Fx.
alive - do you always get EWCM? Sometimes ppl don't. Sometimes it's just watery. Also, these winters (all the indoor heat) can dry you out. Keep us posted.
AFM: 5 dpo, ho hum. Had two very sharp, lightning-like, stabbing pains south of my belly button that shot downwards today. They only lasted 4-5 seconds each but they stopped me cold - couldn't move or even breathe! BBs are big feeling and sore. Other than that, this TWW is way less symptomatic than my last two cycles. Just trying to keep busy. Still decorating and have baked plenty of goodies for neighbors as I get a taste for things, but with just the two of us Christmas baking is kindof a joke! I even share some with the skunk and possums that live in the woods behind our house!
Hoping for some BFPs this weekend! Can't wait to see how the testing goes.
