December -- What did you accomplish today? - Page 2

Thanks momma xx, it's so rough trying to balance everything. Normally I'm on top of the world the entire month of December but I'm struggling..

Our Advent Calendar was bought by moi at a vintage-y type shop. I will take a picture for you later! It's pretty simple with little pockets for things.

I got a few more things done that I intended to -

- Swept the kitchen floor.

- Cleaned the bathroom sink.

- Addressed and stamped the Christmas cards.

- Packed my lunch for work.

- Laid out my clothes for work and set the alarm.

Still need to figure out breakfast for tomorrow, organize my work bag and work on the blogging stuff. Guess I better get to if I'm actually going to get it all done.

Running rabbit today:

- mailed DS2's care package

- took car in for light bulb replacement, of course one blew out on me while driving at night

- ran some errands, including picking up cute socks for sons' girlfriends

- got cipro for dog

- walked with dog in the icy needle rain

- purged some papers

- prepared a treasurer's report

- and I think I sprained my wrist  :(

Cool. :-)

Decently productive day here, after work -

- Did a few Swagbucks things - I'm so close to earning a few gift cards and closing it out.

- Did some Recyclebanks stuff.

- Ordered a Cooking Light magazine subscription with some of my Recyclebanks points. I'm hoping it helps with my dinner rut.

- Mended a torn sleeve on one of my sweaters.

- Laid out my clothes for work tomorrow.

- Checked my bank account balance.

I ought to make something for breakfast tomorrow, but I'm going to watch a movie with husband instead.

I watched my firstborn graduate to being a teenager. yikes2.gifAs of 6:08 AM. That is enough for one day!

Miles to go yet, but made some progress:

- took mother to her house (she wanted to do some Christmas baking)

- returned the wrong-size drip trays I bought the other day

- bought groceries

- walked with dog

- kept the fire going

- put up our decorations

- did knee stretches

- picked up my mother; chatted with a neighbor of hers about snow clearing at her place this winter

Still have to:

- haul some of the pantry groceries down basement

- fold a dry load of laundry

- wash a dirty load

- go through my Christmas cards from last year, send a couple -- we hardly do any

- organize some leftovers into a lunch or two for DH

Not a lot done today -

- Made dinner.

- Tidied the kitchen.

- Wrote a guest blog post.

- Reviewed some work emails.

Things I should've done -

- Wrote posts for my blog.

- Wrapped Christmas presents.

- Christmas cookie baking.

- Actual work for work.

Oh well, there's always tomorrow! Which I am actually trying not to think about since I have several deadlines due at work tomorrow and this week has just been brutal. Tomorrow is really going to be a crunch...

My big project today was finishing up decorations inside. We got the tree up and decorated last week, but the rest of the interior of the house was still all normal. Now we're in full Christmas mode :)

Hit most of my list:

- scrubbed out the tub

- picked up a few groceries

- got wreaths for our balcony, and really great glass octopus and jellyfish ornaments for DS1 and DS2

- also found ornaments for their girlfriends

- picked up kibble and treats for dog

- took a walk with her

- hunted for sunflower flour sources / instructions / recipes online

- made DS2 pop tarts

- boxed up and froze a couple more lunches for DH

- dumped some yellow squash and zucchini into chicken stock for tonight's soup

- started DS2's care package

Still need to:

- wrap DS2's girlfriend's gift so I can include it in the care package

Really dragging here.  I think getting enough sleep should be next on my list.

We have a storm coming tomorrow afternoon into Sunday, and I'm trying to get my Monday morning things done ahead of it just in case the driving is still really bad; my mother's car is a small unproven-in-our-rural-neighborhood sedan, and I don't know how it'll do in case DH needs our 4WD.

Not a bad day all around -

- Unsubscribed from a bunch of email lists that were cluttering up my email.

- Swept the kitchen floor.

- Loaded the dishwasher and ran it.

- Put away the clean dishes.

- Pulled out some sanding sugars, sprinkles, pans and my Christmas apron for cookie baking at my aunt-in-law's house tomorrow.

- Made dinner.

- Did a survey for a free magazine subscription.

- Did the dinner/bath/bedtime routine with Little Man.

I really need to color my hair tonight, but we'll see. I really just want to eat my dinner and read my book instead...

Recipe, please?  :-)

a few tablespoons of olive oil in a pan, when hot then threw in frozen brussel sprouts, broccoli, and fresh chinese cabbage.  After five minutes I threw in pressed/diced garlic, and five minutes later I took it off the heat, tossed it with soy sauce, and then served!  Yum!

I need to color my hair too. Was going to do it today, but I didn't. Right now, babe's passed out in my lap. Guys, she's 13 months now! This won't happen too much longer. That's such a mixed emotion when I think on it.

So we got back from 2 1/2 weeks in OK. That's where my family lives and we hadn't been in 3 years. Los of fun! Only one brother and my mom had met Ana, so they were happy to see their niece/granddaughter.

Wednesday I got laundry washed, a few essentials unpacked. Beside that, I got a raw mark on my hip from carrying her. She was just all tired and out of sorts. Started addressing Christmas cards.

Thursday I finished unpacking and still had a clingy baby, though she was not as bad. Worked on cards.

Yesterday she was closer to normal and my raw spot had time to heal up. I worked on cards more, we were back to school... I was really hoping they would have hit their mid point goals. But they didn't.

Today is only half over, but so far I haven't done much. I am still waking up more on OK time, that is fine though, because I can get my day going before she gets up.
Dishes, twice.
Half way cleaned the bathroom
Got laundry ready to start but haven't yet
Figured some finances
Thawed out beans and chili for supers
Made the bed
Straightened several times
Got on here
Made cornbread, which I need to check on. No eggs in the house, so I'm holding my breath.

]13 months and I'm still not feeling it.

Woah that's a long time! I'm just two months pp and man, postpartum hemorrhoids are causing pain just to sit right now. They flare up and get better and on and on... Feeling also under the weather so didn't want to kiss and infect him.
But normally I'm still really interested. smile.gif

Oh today was so snowy!

Went and fed Dad's cat

Stopped on the way at the chocolate shop to surprise kids with small box of sweets (ended up getting chocolate unicorn and chocolate computer for stockings!)

Did some other shopping for my mum (got her one of those Alex and Oni or something bracelets for G-mas)

Stopped at Tractor Supply for more hay

Came home/got kids bundled and did barn work

Worked on DIY Xmas ornaments

Wrapped two gifts

That's it. Maybe a bath tonight for kids?

Serafina, thanks for the recipe!

We're getting snow tonight into tomorrow, so I tried getting ahead of some things:

- fed the dog, twice; we lost power this morning, and she doesn't eat kibble with cold water

- so, yes, dumping one batch of kibble goes on my list, too

- mailed DS2's care package

- got gas for car and diesel for tractor

- small grocery run at natural food co-op

- drove mother to and from her old place

- picked up sand at the transfer station

- walked with dog

- took mother to Mass

- made dinner

- hung out with DH a bit

Need to wash some dishes and maybe give him a haircut next.  Tomorrow we clear snow!

Yesterday I went to Dominicks for their 50% off closing sale and got some pantry items, with coupons. I only spent $50 and got some killer deals. Then we went over to my aunt-in-law's for cookie baking and stayed all day. Little Man had a great time!

So far today -

- Woke up early to do a little office work.

- Got showered and dressed (usually I like to stay in pajamas as long as possible on Sunday).

- Got Little Man dressed and breakfasted.

- Ran out to Dominicks to paw through the closing sale one last time - found some canned veggies, fruit pouches, baked beans, frozen fish and restocked crescent rolls! And now I am done.

- Organized one of the kitchen cupboards to make room for the new groceries (and it was out of control messy).

- Made myself and cup of tea and heated up the breakfast husband made while I was out.

- Looked through the Sunday paper.

Still to come today -

- Need to reorganize the pantry to fit in the rest of the stuff.

- Bake something for breakfast (probably pumpkin muffins).

- Bake Russian tea cakes and cranberry bread for husband as Christmas treats.

- Figure out something for dinner.

- Color my hair.

- All the usual Sunday prep stuff.

So, busy day...

I got up at 4:40 and:
Took my temp and bp
Washed dishes
Started a schwebischer hefenkrunz (Germann coffee cake) in the bread machine
Mounted Command Hooks with kitchen twine to hang diapers in the Window to sun
Read my Bible and had tea
Kept the fire going
Nursed the baby back to sleep a few times, then got her up
Rolled, rose and baked the coffee cake
Woke up Dad and gave him breakfast in bed while baby tumbled over us getting bites and wanting my coffee
Put frozen beans in the crock for dinner earlier
Finished waving, drying, and hanging up diaper laundry
