Toddler ear infection and diarrhea

My son, almost 2, has an ear infection. It was first diagnosed 11 days ago. I put breastmilk drops in his ears 2-3x a day for a week. About 3 days ago, he started with watery diarrhea, and now its sort of like exclusively breastfed baby poop, but a lot of it. We had to go back to the pedi for another reason and I asked her to re check him. The ear infection is worse, so I got a script for amoxicillin and started him on it today- he now has 102 fever (I didn't treat it). I'm wondering if you think all this is related- the diarrhea, ei and fever. Or could something else be going on? My daughter is sick also; some mystery virus- sore throat, lethargic, upset stomach and vomited a couple times, but no fever and seems to be on the mend. I am giving my son a bland diet (mainly bananas, rice, and gf waffles) and probiotics, but I'm no sure if I should be doing anything else. I hate that he's on abx, but since be got worse and not better I felt stuck. Oh, I also took him to the chiropractor and we have another appt with her tomorrow. Anything else I can or should do?

It sounds like you are doing what you can. In my opinion, all your d.s. symptoms are related. In my experience little ones with ear infections often exhibit other conditions like diarrhea and fevers. I would stick with the pro-biotics at a fairly high dose after the anti biotics are done with.
