What are you taking? What do you plan on taking? BTDT mamas, what have you learned about prenatal health and supplements?
For my first 2 pregnancies i took Rainbow Light, and my midwives were confused as to why i would take a 5-6 pill a day prenatal vs. a one a day. but even 2-3 times a day it still made me nauseous. when i was nursing and pregnant w/ my 3rd, ended up going to Garden of Life Raw prenatals. they caused NO morning sickness.
I was on those until they ran out this summer. Finances are tight though, and I'm looking into a prescription prenatal (b/c insurance would pay for something).
since i'm nursing, i'm a little worried about some levels. i was working on hormones and getting healthy when i got pregnant, and found out my Vit D level is 21 (my dr aims for over 60), so taking some supplements now-
Vit D 5000IU/day
Magnesium (citrate) 200-450mg/day
I'm honestly not excited to take folic acid b/c i don't think my body metabolizes that form at all. in fact, i'm pretty skeptical of taking any overchemicalized form of vitamins and usually they just make me sick.
Also- being gluten-free, i'm really REALLY distrustful of things that i don't know for sure are safe. if it's small/trace amounts of gluten, it tends to make me bloated, spacey, moody, and nauseous for about 6 weeks before i start to get skin rashes, severe mood swings, and my hair starts to fall out. and i haven't had good experiences w/ medicine on this front. anyone know of any good gluten-free prescription prenatals?
