Taste of minimally processed milk?

I just bought a couple of gallons of minimally processed milk from a company called Zaycon and it tastes really weird to me. My understanding of the way this milk is processed is that it's a step above (or below?) raw milk and should have a similar taste and texture. I've always heard people talk about raw milk tasting creamy and slightly sweet. This milk seems to have an almost gritty mouthfeel and smells and tastes just odd. Almost sour? My husband said it tastes like goats milk to him. Does this sound like it's gone bad? Or is this what it's supposed to taste like? I know what grocery store milk smells and tastes like when it's gone sour and this is different. I can't even put it in my tea because it imparts this same flavor to my tea. I'm so disappointed because there's no way I can get used to this taste. There's no way my kids would drink it. greensad.gif

Hi there. I have never had minimally processed milk, but we have been drinking raw goat milk (raw cow milk in the winter) for almost a year now. I never have milk that feels gritty or tastes strong. The goat milk doesn't even taste "goaty" unless it has set out for a while (like 12 hours). I would be a little suspicious of your milk. Is it goat? Does it have a processing date on it? You can always look into raw milk in your area. You should be able to visit the farm and have a taste. That way you can at least have experience with what it should taste like. Or you can maybe make the switch! Good luck!
