When is an appropriate age to introduce baby to a sippy cup? What are the signs that I should look for?
We just do drinks our of normal cups, or the straw trick when our to eat. I did ask for those attachments that fits on top of glass pint jars this year for Xmas fir B so we'll see how that goes.
I tend to start giving sips of water when LO's reach for it. I don't get worried about actual consumption of liquids until they are weaned or at least over the age of 1.
I'm w/ Shanna. #1 had the sippy cup, but the rest did/do not. Maybe it has something to do w/ not having a dishwasher or microwave? I hate the feeling of washing cold grease/ mystery goo off of plastic. (We used to have that microwave Avent bottle sterilizer.) The more babies I have the less gear gets used. When they want water I break out the heavy crystal 4" shot glass, I find it's a good weight, it's tall for them to grip, & the circumference is nice for little mouths.
we ended up getting a sippy type cup for christmas and actually like it. It's called the Safe Sippy http://www.kid-basix.com/
It's not completely spill proof (if you hold upside down drips lightly) but i like the fact LO's suck on the spout and love the actual cup. I don't actively give B water yet but it works to distract him for about 10 minutes if i need to do something :-)
