Hi Ladies,

Public service announcement here.  As probably all of you know, I am/was a nurse.  Most things don't really worry me bc I've seen the worst of the worst.  However, this season's flu uptick is something I find alarming.

It's the H1N1 strain - aka Swine Flu.  The same one that came around in 2009 and was especially harmful to young people and pregnant women.

I posted an account of my experience with it over in the pregnancy forum...

http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1395792/the-h1n1-swine-flu-is-back-info-from-a-rn-whos-seen-the-worst

TIPS for FLU PREVENTION:

  • Stay out of busy public places as much as possible.
  • Breathe through your nose (NOT your mouth).
  • If you see someone sneezing or coughing, turn around and get out of there for at least 10 minutes.
  • Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 15 seconds, using lots of friction.  Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean hand towel (not the blow dryers).  You may have to carry your own towels.
  • Be careful about touching your face with your hands.  If you must and you can’t clean your hands first, use a tissue as a barrier.

I took vitex for a short time too.  It magnified my TWW symptoms so beware that is a possibility going forward.  I felt great when taking it (energy wise) but the TWW bloating, cramping and BBs soreness... and even nausea close to AF, were just not worth it for me in the long run.  I hope it regulates your cycles tho - mine were normal to begin with so I think that's prob why I had the issues.
Yeah I've only taken vitex two days and so far I feel great but I already feel great from eating right and exercising. I will watch for anything unusual I mostly am taking it because of being on day 53 and hearing it can help your body regulate after getting off birth control. The sore boobs is just really encouraging because I got that around ovulation my first cycle. smile.gif

@innacircle thank you for the flu warning! We all keep getting sick here, so that may very well be our issue.

I wanted to update you all about my doctors appt on monday. He suspects endometrosis. They will call me next week to schedule surgery. I'm hopeful because my mom had surgery for endo and then had me and later my brother. Its scary tho. It explains alot. But now I'm not sure where all I fit in on here. I think I might move over to the infertility forum. I'm feeling a bit numb at the moment.

So yesterday I had an immensely overwhelming feeling about a baby boy almost enough to make me cry. You guys might think this is weird but my husband "senses" stuff. Anyway he thinks this is our month and he has sensed a boy as well for the last month or so now. I'm pretty sure i just ovulated so I want to wait a couple of weeks and see how accurate all these feelings are lol.

Siuann - how long does it take to heal after the surgery, to where you can TTC again?  Medical procedures are always worrisome but at least you know your mom came through it and was able to have babies.

alive - I get what you mean about ppl sensing stuff.  Hopefully the vibes he's picking up are the first sign of an impending BFP.  Also, many ppl report increased emotional responses during the TWW of a conception cycle... sounds pretty good!

afm: I tested last night and got BFN. IF I O'd on day 15, that would have only been 10dpo. So I wasn't all that concerned. But my temp took a nosedive today. Still above "cover line" tho. Not feeling it this month anyway. I did meet the craigslist person today and got my CBE fertility monitor. She actually knocked $5 off the price since she advertised it with a couple of extra test sticks, but had to use one to reset it. Anyway, I am excited about this purchase!! It will at least give me a VERY good idea of when I O. If I find out I am O'ing late I will call my dr immediately. I think she'd understand my urgency with my age and all. (She just had her first a few years ago at 40+.) I'm so anxious to get home to figure this contraption out!! And this sounds crazy, but I feel like it will ease the pain of AF when she comes cause I can get ready to utilize this thing! So anxious to see what it tells me!!

Step One: Quit... Job...

Really, I can't stay away from sick people where I work. I have 50-200 kids coughing on me all day long and I may only get the opportunity to leave my 'station' two or three times in 8-11 hours. I'm just getting over three weeks of bronchitis that I'm 100% certain I caught at work. greensad.gif

wife - that stinks!  Normally if you work in a high-germ area your body responds by keeping your immune system on heightened status.  That's why healthcare workers don't get sick constantly.  However, since you only work 2 days per week I'm wondering if that's enough gap timewise to prevent that response from being triggered.

Innacircle- thanks for posting the test dates, gives me a good idea on where everyone is in their cycles- I like to keep track. Please can you update that I tested BFN this month, and AF arrived today. I was expecting her so I'm not too upset.

In fact I'm rather ok about it all- my basal thermometer arrived today too, so I'm starting my charting journey tomorrow (CD2) I may be back with questions shortly, so if anyone wants to throw in some free advice ... wink1.gif

So, fantastic news. I'm ovulating. Full on EWCM and double solid lines on all ovulation sticks peed on. Of course DH wants to try.. But we received bad news this AM... My oldest brother passed away yesterday after battling stage 4 brain cancer. This new year hasn't been full of a lot of win so far, and that was a huge blow. I remember him and my other brother use to always protect me from 'older boys' growing up. It's heartbreaking knowing his kids won't have their father growing up. His wife went through years of fertility treatments and gave up, then ended up pregnant three times. Triplets, twins, twins. I feel guilty for wanting to DTD later, but don't want to lose a window.

Sorry for ranting. House full of emotionless men for me, and the siblings are currently spaced across the country. :/

Hey everyone :)

I am 7DPO and in the 2WW....and I am losing my mind, slowly haha. This is only our second cycle of ttc #1. I am hoping I am having early symptoms but I also know I am extra aware of every twinge and symptom. I have been having headaches, exhaustion and nausea since 4DPO but I know I am extra sensitive, like I said! Good luck to you all :)

Badwolf-I'm sorry to hear about your brother that is terrible. greensad.gif I don't think he would want you to put your life on hold though but I understand feeling guilty.

Susanevelyn- good luck! I am pretty sure ovulated yesterday or today so my crazy paranoia is about to kick in. smile.gif

So sorry for all the pain this year has brought so far for you, in such a short time. greensad.gif I really hope for you that a baby comes and brings light.

badwolf- SO sorry to hear about your loss. I to hope a baby can bring some happiness for you soon!

Motivated Mama- Thanks!! This is the first month for DH and I that we are really hoping for a BFN :heartbeat

Of course I have become a pee on a stick-a-holic....I got a BFN this morning (of course) I know it's too early.

I am trying to make myself wait til 1/19 and then if thats a BFN 1/21....I  know if can take awhile for some women to show BFN and just hope AF stays away this month!!

It's been hard to stay updated lately. Life... it gets kind of obnoxious. Anyways, I'm officially going to say move me to waiting to be ready. After a couple more discussions DH and I decided that we are going to wait until my cycle at the end of April. If we got pregnant that first cycle, we'd have a 2015 baby which would put us past the holidays and the worst of his schedule. I'm actually okay with it. It's giving me some time to get in the habit of temping so that I can have a better idea of my cycles when we do try. Also it'll give me some time to meet with some of the midwives in the area here. I found out I was pregnant with DS 1 week after we had moved and didn't know any doctors and hardly anyone in the area. There was a hospital based midwife/obgyn practice a few towns over that was recommended to me and I called for an appointment. I'd like to be a little more prepared this time around since I'll be going for a VBAC and I feel it's very important to have the right provider. Oh... and I POAS yesterday. BFN. The night before I was shredding some chicken for a pot pie and the smell was making me nauseous which was really weird since I'm a carnivore and have never had a problem with the smell of meat. It was enough for DH to freak out and demand a test. So now I'm just waiting for AF and April!

How long do you guys wait to urinate after bd? I've always done it right away to avoid utis but since we started trying to conceive I try to wait for at least 10 minutes. Last night (hopefully the day I ovulated) I fell asleep. Just curious if there is a good way to go about it or not.

I was supposed to get X-rays on my lower back and neck today and decided to hold off until I know if this is our month. I won't lie I am trying very hard not to get overexcited right now. smile.gif
