Independent Midwives in the UK?

I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place especially seeing as I'm not actually pregnant yet but I wasn't sure where this question belonged..

So basically for my last three births, I had an independent midwife instead of going with the NHS.  I absolutely adored her, she totally changed the way I viewed and experienced my births.  Unfortunately not the EU has bought in some sort of legislation and she has quit working as a midwife as a result of this as have all the other local independent midwives.

I'm hearing that come February it'll be illegal for IM to work...  Is this true?  Will there be any option after February other than NHS or will this kill of the entire IM network?  I'm love another baby, but the thought of not having an IM with me and caring for me during my pregnancy fills me with dread.  Does anyone know what the deal is after February?

Thanks!

Welcome SevenFromHeaven! So sorry your beloved midwife is no longer available. Hopefully someone will come along and post a great recommendation for someone else in your area. :thumb
