Homemade detergent for newborn??

I am hoping to get some feedback about this...I currently make my own laundry soap, however with an upcoming new addition to our family I am curious. Do others have a special "recipe" for laundry detergent that is safe for the baby? I hesitate to use commercial brands, but I will use one if no homemade alternatives are good for the baby. I look forward to your responses. :thumb

Your current homemade laundry soap is probably going to be fine for baby too. What ingredients are in your recipe?

I use washing soda, fels naptha soap, and occasionally Oxiclean Free. I also use a vinegar/cheap conditioner mix in a Downy Ball for fabric softener.

I also make my own detergent. I use washing soda, borax, and dr. Bronners for soap and this seems to have worked fine for my little one and cloth diapers as well.

Hi mama and welcome to the forum! I use the same laundry procedure you do only exception being zote soap instead of fels naptha. I have used this recipe and laundry procedure for 7 years now for all family laundry including hubby's nasty work clothes and it works great. When I first started this my oldest was a year old and I was pregnant with the second. We are all very sensitive to many things but this has never bothered us. My kids are now 8,6, and 2 and have been around this detergent all their lives with no issues. I have even gotten my family using it and my brother & wife have their first baby (now 8 mos) and he has had no issues either.
