Any tricks for headaches during pregnancy? I get some wicked headaches during pregnancy (and while not pregnant) but I don't feel safe taking ibuprofen (which I resort to when not pregnant when they're unbearable.) I ended up in the hospital with my third pregnancy late in the second trimester with a headache that was killing me. I had been vomiting all day long every few minutes when my mom finally drove me in the afternoon. They gave me iv anti-nausea drugs and then ibuprofen (so I wouldn't vomit it up) and it worked. Once I get vomiting, I can't keep anything down so nothing works. They're not very frequent, but man, once in a while I get a real whopper.
During my last pregnancy, I had a headache that kept getting worse and I broke down and took ibuprofen that morning and started spotting within an hour. I doubt that's what caused the m/c, but I know it's not good for the baby & I'd LOVE to hear if anyone has found anything that works.
Sometimes magnesium will help or staying hydrated (which isn't easy when your 3 yr old nurses like a baby...) or caffeine. I know caffeine is a no-no but I feel like it's safer than ibuprofen.
I go to the chiropractor every week and I can't think of anything else.
I anticipate them getting more frequent as blood volume increases and I'd like to try to avoid them.
Anyone else get headaches while pregnant?
