movement

I don't want to be the weirdo who says she felt movement at 10w and everyone thinks "gas, stupid". But I've had intermittent flutters in one specific spot the past week, and that's exactly where the u/s tech found the babe yesterday. I felt DD1 around 16wks and DD2 around 13. Am I being that weirdo? Any other experienced moms with early movements?

Not me. I don't feel movement until about 20 weeks.

I felt baby number one right before 17 weeks and everyone thought that it was unheard of so I'm expecting to feel this one somewhere earlier but I'm only about to be 9 weeks

I was very thin with my first and felt my son bonk my hand from the outside at 16 weeks!!  My husband felt it a few minutes later!  baby must have been bouncing up and down in there.

I really hope I feel this baby just as soon if not sooner.  <3

Yup, I'm an early one too!!  Felt my first at 9 wks, and my friend who was with me at the time put her hand on my tummy, saying "That's impossible! You can't feel...OH MY GAWD!!! I felt that!!" :lol

Babies #2 & #3 I felt around the same time, 9-10 wks. Just little flutters, or little sensations like a piece of popcorn popping in there. Not quite the same as gas!

This one, I have started feeling sensations already, at 8 1/2 wks. All day off & on, the left side of my tummy has been feeling twitchy and fluttery. Thought I was nuts at first, or having muscle spasms or something, but it's still going.  I was actually hopping on here to ask the same question, when I saw Pudlenka already did!  LOL

I think everyone just feels it differently, or some may shrug off those early movements as gas or imagination - but some women are sensitive enough to feel ovulation or implantation, those are probably the "weird" ones like us who feel fetal movement super early!

So glad I'm not the only one. I'm not thin enough to feel from outside yet, but it's so consistently there, same feeling, same exact spot, and right in the babe's position on u/s ...

Right around 11 weeks (depending on dates and on the uterus in question) the uterus gets pretty squinched behind the pubic bone. Quarters get tight and it s not unusual for moms to feel a little something for a bit at this point until the uterus pops up out of that cavity.. Then it might be a bit before you feel it again. Random stuff you pick up as a childbirth educator. wink1.gif

So glad you posted this!! I am 9 w 3 days with my third babe (fourth pregnancy) and I've definitely been feeling some movement the past few days. Flutters but some flips and rotations too. Call me crazy, but I felt DD1 at 17 weeks and DD2 at 11 weeks ( position and movement confirmed by the ultrasound tech who initially didn't believe me smile.gif.

I definitely have felt "popcorn popping" but I thought I was imagining it. smile.gif

yay!!!

nothing here yet, but my 4th i felt at 11 weeks.  like a tiny goldfish flipping around inside me.  i thought i was imagining it, but it never went away and just got stronger and bigger.

and she never did stop moving throughout that pregnancy.....

my 5th it wasn't that early again.  curious about this one!

I am getting so excited at the thought of feeling my baby move now!  I'm feeling like maybe I will just forego ultrasound and wait until I feel movement.  I hope it's soon!!!

Ahhh, I hope I feel movement soon. I'm 9 weeks and I didn't feel it with my first until I was 17(ish) weeks and that was 6 years ago!

Yes - that's it!! I've been trying to figure out what the sensation is I've been feeling the last few days, and that describes it perfectly.  Seems like the earlier I feel them, the more feisty they are...so far, all of mine have been pretty similar! Eek!

How neat! I think I felt something last night- just a bit of a flutter. I'm about 10 weeks or more along right now. I can't remember for my first three when I felt, but I know it was earlier than most.

This morning I felt the first definite 100% for certain movements, and my husband could feel them faintly too :joy

I am probably about 13 weeks now, I have had some sensations I am pretty positive were baby prior to this but they were very faint so I couldn't say for certain.

Thought I may have felt something tonight! Flutters very faint. 10 weeks along

I felt one, very distinct flutter with my son at 8.5 weeks. But then not again for a few weeks.

I hope I feel something soon. orngbiggrin.gif

2 nights in a row when i'm like- gas?  baby?  something going on!!!!

dude.  i would be so happy to get some movement.  it would really make me believe in this baby!  i do, i know i do, but it's so strange.  and it would give me peace that it is real.

part of me is still terrified that it's not gonna stick or something could be wrong.  but movement would pretty much make me believe it's all gonna me FINE.  i mean, as much as it can be.

Same with me House of Peace. I feel like I can't even talk or come out about this pregnancy until I feel movements.

I hear ya! Movement is so critical to feeling the baby is REAL.  Interesting aside - People used to refer to the first sensation of movement as "the quickening" - it was considered the first tangible sign a woman was pregnant, and highly celebrated.  When the baby is able to "stir in the mother's womb" was also considered the moment the baby becomes "ensouled", and therefore if something happened to cause her miscarriage (spousal beating, abortion, etc) it was legally considered homicide.

Earlier this week, sick with the flu, baby's flutters stopped for a day or so...I freaked out, worrying that the fever had hurt the baby somehow, and called my midwife in a panic. She reassured me that it wouldn't hurt the baby, gave me some other natural remedies to try, and that as long as I didn't have any cramping or bleeding, the baby would be fine. Sure enough, yesterday and today those flutters returned...some I think were just gas, but some were definitely baby.

House of Peace, OtherSoul - try putting on a movie for the kids or something, then take a quiet moment in a comfy chair to have a little snack (sugary, sour, something strong-tasting), and just sit back with your hands on your belly. I always feel movement right after eating something baby finds yummy! When you feel that little sensation, just smile and meditate on it, even if it's so small. Focus on the love. It will give you much peace. :)
