Hi!
My daughter isn't school aged yet (not even preschool aged) but I'm a planner so I'd like to start researching already! I want to use the time before she's ready to start school to learn as much as I can so it's less overwhelming. I am very interested in homeschooling and I really like some
Of the ideas of waldorf and want to incorporate that.. I was wondering if anyone has any book or article recommendations for me about homeschooling in general or overviews of the philosophies? There is just so much information out there I don't even know where to start! I don't know how ill ever pick curriculum but I guess ill cross that bridge when we get there. Also any preschool homeschool programs that are recommended? I'm not really wanting to start anything too academic with her in preschool maybe just some fun activities the oak meadow preschool package looks good has anyone tried it? Thanks!

Hi There-- Welcome to the world of homeschooling (possibly)!  We are only three years in so I am no expert, but I love to read and have read loads of homeschooling books.  What types of books are you looking for?  Instruction books?  There are so many good ones...  Have you read Heaven on Earth by Sharifa Oppenheimer?  Not a homeschooling book per se but a heat one to get you started with Waldorf Education.  I am reading Dumbing Us Down and Hold on to Your Kids right now, both of which are excellent.  There are some heat unschoooly ones too like the Teenage Liberation Handbook or some more traditional ones by Ruth Beechick about teaching the three Rs.   I have also loved reading about others homeschooling:  Homeschool Open House and its sequel were so much fun for me.  Let me know if you would like some more ideas.  Sachi

Thanks so much for your response! I'll definitely be checking out your recommendations... I have read a few waldorfy books: seven times the sun, understanding waldorf education, you are your child's first teacher, simplicity parenting.. I like the waldorf ideas but I don't like the religious aspect.. So I guess I'm interested in how people pull things from a few different approaches and kind of tailor it to their family.. And I just like reading so if you think of anything else interesting let me know! Anyway thanks again
