Just getting over it here too...I take vitamin D, probiotics, etc, try to stay really healthy too, but sometimes it just nails ya anyway.
Midwife Ok'd my Wish Garden Herbs Kick-Ass Herbal Immune Activator for use - BOY did it help!! It's a locally made organic/wildcrafted tincture, but you can order online or I'm sure there is something similar available elsewhere (just check ingredients for pregnancy use). http://wishgardenherbs.com/herbal-remedies/Kick-Ass-Immune-Activator-399 I took it every 2 hours, chased with a spoonful of raw honey, and in between took homeopathics...that knocked it out, and I'm almost better.
I read a post by a nurse (probably the same one the OP did) that was super scary too. While it certainly sucks to get sick, most people aren't at risk of any serious complications unless they have an underlying condition or are extremely young/old, on chemo, immunosuppressant drugs, etc. Herbs, nutrition and homeopathy work with your body to bring it into balance, not to suppress what your body is trying to do to rid itself of the virus.
The worst thing to do is suppress symptoms by taking allopathic drugs like Tylenol or ibuprofen to squelch the fever, OTC cough suppressants, nasal decongestants, etc...don't shoot the messenger, those symptoms are there for a reason! Drugs don't cure diseases, only mask symptoms. Flu shots and vaccines don't provide true immunity. I don't know when people in the mainstream will figure that out and quit listening to all the hype from doctors who make money off sick people.
