I just got my first gifts off of my registry today from DH's cousin. It was so much fun to get stuff I wanted, but without having to buy it!

I just went to Gymboree for their 50% off markdown sale again! Gah I had a little mini shopping spree..

I got a 0-3M bathing suit ($4 for both shirt and trunks!) and beautiful winter coat (6-12M) for $10! I also bought some "dress up" clothes.. a nice flannel collar shirt, sweater, collar sweatshirt (6-12M and one 3-6M). I bought a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans for 0-3M as well as I figure I'm going to get all summer clothes and I need something to put on him when we go camping (it gets cool at night in the summer sometimes)...and a couple of 3-6M short sleeved (think mom is mostly getting winter). I then decided to buy some jeans for the older sizes 12-18M and 18-24M and a shirt in each size. The prices were amazing as everything was already marked down 50-70% off and then I got 50% off of that.. I got a bunch of things for less than $3.

I walked out with over $400 worth of merchandise for $100 and got $50 gymbucks. When I have to go back to use the Gymbucks in early May I think I'll stick to the older sizes..I don't feel comfortable buying anymore <12M since I know I'm going to get a bunch during the shower (Mom is buying a lot of 3-6M and DH's Aunt works at JCPenny's and is buying 6-12M and most others I'm sure will buy newborn and 0-3M). Of course I also have to look at what I got for hand me downs (so far mostly 18M+ but our friends haven't gone through storage with the smaller sizes yet)! I might end up donating some or selling to the consignment store (ones that we get at the shower and can't return that I am not a huge fan of)...

I think DS is going to end up with enough clothes for the first 3 years before he is born! LOL I'm going to put Tubs in the attic labeled with the sizes.

I did pick out the crib mattress (havent bought it yet going to see if their is a sale on it) and am putting the design together for the platform/co-sleeper that my father is going to build :)

@activia- love how on point your are!

Just got given a bag of newborn cloths and Muslin blankets- really the first things baby has gotten! Also bought my first things for baby at the thift store. Makes it so much more real actually seeing all the little baby clothes!! I just keep pulling them out and refolding them- just imagining a little baby inside.

My son is nearly 7, and we had passed on all of his baby to 3T things before we moved into this house. My sister had many of them for her boys but then passed them on to her friends and SIL who had boys. I hadn't expected to get any of them back at all.

Last weekend, we were at her house, and she had 3 large (the 160diaper case size) boxes for us of 0-6 mth boy clothing & shoes. I sorted them all out to see how much there was in each size, and was pleasantly surprised to see some old favourites from DS's infancy, and several 'pairs' of outfits -- not matching things, but things that will coordinate nicely for the twins. She'd told her friends and SIL that we were having twins, and they all boxed up 'too small' things that day :)

The boxes had lots of PJs and tops, but not as many pants, so now we know where we need to fill in. If we didn't get any more 3-6mth clothing, I think we'd be ok :) with just these. I like to have ample clothing so I can stretch out the days between laundry (especially once cloth diapers are in the rotation too, those can't wait and need to be done on time, so putting off another load of clothing is a nice option to have), and I'm sure we'll add some more from gifts, and things that we pick up so that we can choose some of the things and not have them in hand-me-downs all the time.

I do expect we'll need to get some more items in the NB, and 0-3 sizes though, since they'll likely be a bit on the small side.

Yes it does! It makes it feel so real..

When I was shopping at Gymboree a little girl asked if I had a little boy. I rubbed my stomach and said yep he's right here.

:throb

Cute! We have sooo many clothes for girls, but I guess I need to think about our new little guy too! As much time as it took me to get used to pink and purple invading our home, thinking of boy clothes really makes me cringe. All the sports related, dinosaur & truck things! Anyone have recommendations for finding good boy stuff?

I think i've bought like 2 things for my daughter, hats and a onsie, but relatives have been buying her stuff since its the first baby of the family.  my mom has an addiction to buying her outfits, she goes at least once a week.  my dad has 7 sisters so they have all been going nuts. but in the next few weeks hubby and I will set out to buy her stroller, and start looking at some nursery furniture. =]

I actually didn't find it hard to buy boy stuff -- lots of stripes, waffle weave solids etc. -- You do sometimes have to wade through some nonsense covered in popular TV characters, but no worse than you do on the girl side of the store.

It doesnt seem like Gymboree does the TV character nonsense since I didnt see any of that. All of his clothes have various little cute animals on them like bears or puppies or antelope..etc There are some with stripes and one or two with as excavator... I havent had any problems finding clothes I like for them there at least.

They don't do any tv personalities, and with three little men I've never had a problem spending our clothing budget there! lol

So far we've gotten several outfits and sleepers from friends and family who excited for Little Miss. My sister-in-law also offered me her infant bath foam thing and any other tiny baby items we mgiht want to borrow! :)

I don't think I'll be buying much more for a bit as several girlfirends informed me that they're throwing me a shower in May! :) I'm excited, it's not needed per say but it'll be fun to have an excuse to celebrate this little one!

Don't forget about LEGOS! OMFG I hate those things! My oldest(7 years old) wasn't allowed to get those small legos before because 1) choking hazard and 2) step-on hazard. Yeah… lol

Yes! I hate all the character related things! I'm sure legos are all over everything now. It seems like the choices out there are a little less character oriented since my 7 yo was a baby- you really had to search. Thanks for letting me know about gymboree! I've never really looked at their boy clothes much, and if you hit the sales just right, their prices can be pretty great!
Besides some clothes, big list of shopping includes:
Car!! Still don't know what the heck to do:(
Carseats
Twin nursing pillow
Extra boppy
Extra Bouncy seat-we love our baby bjorn bouncer, but they've become super expensive!
A crib to sidecar-kinda dreading this one.

I'm slowly collecting a little stash of baby stuff, but it's tough with a limited budget. I don't really need many big items, and I am hoping my boyfriend will step up and help out there.

So far I've bought some clothes from Gymboree and hanna Andersson on sale, a diaper bag, and a beco soleil baby carrier. I still have a stroller and some cloth diapers leftover from previous babies, but that's about it!

I bought a stroller this weekend! I got a "Mama's and Papa's Sola", I got a great deal on it too! and i loooove deals! Only $200 marked down from $450. I think it is the only big thing that I am buying new. Everything else I have left over, clothes etc, getting a car seat from a friend, etc. I have decided to change my office/ studio into a baby room so that should be a fun project. If I was to squeeze an extra dresser plus,  diaper change space in my bedroom I have no idea where it would all go!

I am putting a changing pad on top of my long dresser for a diaper changing space if that helps you. Also make sure that car seat is NOT expired.

I got this:

http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Your-Sleeper-Bedding/dp/B00CXHH3DU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393268650&sr=8-2&keywords=baby+co+sleeper

on craigslist for $20! I plan to use when we go camping and if we travel at all during those early months.

I haven't bought anything since my last update (well two diapers, but i put them in the diaper thread!), but we just found out we're having a boy, and 95% of our clothing for our daughter was hand me downs-- so ridiculous amounts of pink and frilly. So I started sorting through and figuring out again what we're going to need, and what we can sell/swap from our current stash. SO relieved to finally be able to prepare.

I bought tops today at Marshall's.  Somehow I avoided the baby section as I ran out of time, but that's probably a good thing.
And, yes, they are totally "baby" purchases because for each I made sure I could pull them down and pop out a boob for breastfeeding.  I also got another pair of comfy cotton sleep pants as I am discovering that my "favorite" new pair are getting used too much for there only to be one of them.  I believe these will serve me very well in the coming months and am only sorry there weren't more fun prints to choose from.
Fortunately the tops there are even more BF-ing savvy and comfortable than much of the maternity stuff.  Score!
I started in the yoga/athletic sections and them moved on to knits (I think - basically t-shirt material "tops").  Can't remember if I actually ended up buying anything on clearance, but the clearance price wasn't that much better.
And the dog got an extra bed because this house is big enough he needs more than one.  Gotta take care of my first "baby"!

Also, I got the baby leggings in the mail today and a box of freebie bars I won in a raffle called "Credible Cravings".  Will give you an update when I've tasted them (especially if someone reminds me), but here's a link to their website: http://www.crediblecravings.com/
Ingredients look pretty good so far.

Mom also sent some more contact lenses for me to try out so today was an awesome day of mail-in packages.  Even when I know they're coming I love getting packages in the mail and feel like I'm getting a surprise gift.
