What's anyone planning?  Whiling away the next few months with projects for a newborn?

Let's share inspiration as it hits (and in between moments of nausea!)

I alway had made both a girl and boy set of knitted hat and felted booties... But I think this time we are going to find out what were having. I plan on making a newsy cap if it is a boy or a bonnet style hat for a girl. Same felt booties just in matching colors to the hat.

I will make a blanket for them too... I just sew minky to a fabric I like, nothing fancy.

I have plans to make up our spare room a bit into a Eloise Wilkins themed baby room... With some of her illustrations on the wall, fairly gender neutral.

That might be it... We have most everything we need and my time is limited.

I always knit up hats and a blanket. My babies are obsessive hat wearers until well after 2 years old! I've become a much better sewer now, so I'll sew up some gowns and more light wool gowns/soakers.

I am hoping to manage to make a pair of baby dolls for my older kids. I'll make a teething doll for the new baby, but not until after the birth.

I like to make light muslin swaddling blankets (more sturdy than A&A, but still very breathable). I plan to sew a few up and let the kids tie-dye them.  Otherwise, I am going to wait to see how much ambition I have.

I have made diapers and wool longies in the past, and I love making a special blanket for each child, but I think I am going to wait to know the gender before I start too much planning.

I'm just a little crafty!  I have never learned to use a sewing machine, so the little sewing I do, I do by hand.  During my last pregnancy I made a sweet little bird mobile.  I found a pattern (probably on pinterest), and worked on it slowly thru the entire pregnancy.    It was a great project.  I haven't decided on what to do for this lil one yet.  The older girls and I needle felt together

Right now, I am hitting up the thrift stores to stockpile cute wool sweaters to make into diaper covers.

Here are two I made last week (green, from the front and white, from the back) and the third is the same pattern, but my first attempt at it back in 2009! They were well used and well loved, hence the many patches, and I'd be tickled to have one more child in them in a couple of years.

Where do you buy the muslin? And do you just fold over the edges or do you have a serger?

Thanks, sheaffer. :)

I love needle felting, but I'm just beginning to learn it, so I poke myself A LOT still! But, I got a wild hare (harhar) a few months back and bought an English Angora rabbit as a new family pet. She gives off the most beautiful, luxurious dove-gray wool. I've only incorporated it into two little projects, but it's just divine.

I'm not sure how much time I will have this time around, but I plan to make newborn fitted hybrids. I make OS hybrid fitteds for my shop, but I am excited to make some newborns. Last time i made them out of just flannel and terry cloth, and my boy soaked them quite quickly. So bamboo fleece this time. smile.gif

I plan to knit a couple of matching soakers, hats, and booties. It's been a couple of years since I've really knit. I haven't really made time for it. I hope it all comes back fast once I get going.

Thinking of doing a quilted baby blanket with some friends. I want to do some soaker but all of the patterns I have found and tries are a bust so far. greensad.gif Not sure what else yet.
