Ideas on how to incorporate Waldorf philosophy/style at home

We don't have access to a Waldorf school in our area (the nearest school is an hour away  :-( ) and while we're seriously considering home schooling, we are just yet. I was hoping some of you experienced Waldorf mamas might have some ideas on how my family might incorporate aspects of Waldorf in our home. I'm reasonably well read on the philosophy, but I'm having trouble translating concepts in books to our real life.

Thank you!

Hi MamaHuss and welcome to Mothering!! I know that lots of folks recommend this book by Rahima Baldwin for home life:

Also, since you are new to Mothering, I wonder if you'd be willing to tell us how  you found us?!  See this thread:

We love Seven Times the Sun!  It was a big help for us, in terms of transitional songs.

What a great list of resources!  I have read most of those books and blogs and agree that they are helpful for creating a more calm and deliberate home environment.  They look different for each family and some things come more easily than others.  Take what speaks to you and your children.

Thanks so much for the resources! I'll be heading to our library tomorrow :-) And I'll be pleased to check out some of those blogs. I'm familiar with a few of them (I actually contributed to Rhythm of the Home's last issue - wrote a bit about our family bed), but there are a bunch I haven't checked out yet. Exciting!

How neat that you were able to contribute to the last ROTH!  I remember your article and I think I have been to your blog. :-)

I was thrilled to be involved, especially since it was their last one. I didn't know it when I submitted my piece and almost didn't, so I'm really glad I did.
