Am I allowed to be here without an "official" estimated due date?

Good morning everybody!

I decided to peek in here to see if I'd be welcome...

I haven't been to any appointments to confirm my pregnancy yet, but my body and the store bought sticks are telling me it's green team go time :Sheepish So i'm getting excited and also starting to feel the need to PREPARE... I ended up buying a Kindle book called "Natural Parenting: Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond" by Meilena Hauslendale, and she included a link to "Mothering.com," so I ended up here. I think it's a great way to find support through this experience, especially since we are also about to pick up and move to a different state, so I will be making a new group of friends when I get there, while I am pregnant.. haha.

We conceived on January 24th, so I joined the October group as a bit of a guess, just so I could connect with women who might be going through the same changes around the same time as I will. :innocent

Hope I'm in the right place :heartbeat

Welcome! You already have a positive pregnancy test at 6 DPO?? That is impressive!

I do have blood test results (3 of them!), but only because I'm paranoid about another miscarriage.

I thought so too I tried it for giggles since I've been FEELING so different. Is it possible my body is working this much already to make changes in my system?
I've been perusing the articles and forums here to get an idea about how to start taking the best possible care of myself ... I feel my entire mindset toward caring for myself has changed drastically. I already cared about being in good health but NOW it is the ONLY option that I am giving myself, if that makes sense?

Reading about miscarriages definitely made me slightly anxious. I am staying away from caffeine since I know that increases the risk...

I am curious about the first steps of this process... We embarked on this childbearing adventure with faith and love alone... I know that I desire a somewhat unconventional route when it comes to this journey,...
When does one usually go see a doctor for blood tests?
What are the opinions about sonograms/ultrasounds? Are they necessary , and if so at what points during the pregnancy? I know they cause some harm and I don't want to add any unnecessary harm of course.
I'm also curious about how to go about the search for a midwife...

Haha so many questions I have! I know I have time to prepare some but I just wanted to get my questions out there in case some of you wiser more experienced souls may be able to give me some advice. innocent.gif

It's really nice to meet everyone who responds! Thank you! I'm happy I found this online community.

I'm here with just one BFP I took 2 days ago.. I probably won't go to a Dr/OB/MW for several weeks unless I feel like I need to.

Thank you for your post SierraBella! You've definitely reassured me that I'm not behind or unprepared.

I'm planning to go see the gynecologist in the 8th week of pregnancy - towards the end of February, beginning March. I'm doing my third and final HPT (this time digital) tomorrow morning - just because all good things come in three's orngbiggrin.gif

Also it's good to feel that I belong with this group :joy Thanks everyone for being so helpful!

haha.. the test I took was a year-expired digital, left over from when I got a BFP with DS3. Still haven't started AF, so I figured my BFP is as good as any ;)

You honestly don't need blood tests at all to confirm pregnancy. With my first, we had a super-quick ultrasound at 8 weeks to rule out twins (dh's request, as it would have precluded a birth center delivery) and the anatomy scan at 20 weeks to make sure all vital organs were developing properly and placenta placement was good. You'll get a huge range of opinion about ultrasounds. They haven't been conclusively proved safe or unsafe - really, they haven't been studied much at all. We will have an early ultrasound this time simply for my peace of mind after losing a baby at 8 weeks in September. I need the reassurance that things are okay, and for me, that is worth whatever minor risks it may entail.

I'm curious if maybe you're further along than you thought, implantation takes approx 7 days, I've never seen a positive sooner than 8dpo.

It is possible actually... we haven't been using contraception all month long... I had only FELT the 24th was the time...

I also wonder if the test gave me a false positive??...

I bought the thing in November of 2012 ... I took a test back then when we thought we'd accidentally gotten pregnant and I still had the second stick, so I used it just for kicks. I plan on doing another *new* one after a little while... because I thought it was just TOO soon to be accurate... BUT I do know I can feel a difference in my body.

You might have ovulated earlier and been pregnant a week longer.  I did a pregnancy test 7 days after and it gave me two negatives, then I waited out the whole TWW (two week wait) and I got me two positives.  But you know, I read about it and implantation can happen anytime between 6 and 12 days past ovulation (that's when the hormone levels go way up).

The 24th could be implantation, which would perfectly time your positive. Tests do have expiration dates. I have an obsession with taking tests, so I say take another! :P

ohhh this is very exciting, I definitely know my body is changing and I will take another test but I'm going to give it a little time just to be sure. Like another week...... ohhh man!

I'm wondering if there's a possibility my baby will hang on until November, actually?... everyone in my family tends to go past their due dates.

Congratulations! Of Course you are welcome here! I haven't been to confirm either. I typically don't start prenatal care until around 10-12 weeks, and most providers won't see you until then anyway. Welcome to our group!

Hey lilbsmama:hippie

I'm so happy to be online with other souls embarking on the same journey! It's definitely making this even more exciting, since everyone here is so full of positive energy about their baby on the way... I don't have many friends in my physical world who have been through this experience, so it's very nice to have others to relate to, and to get advice from. Especially those of you who are more experienced! I'm in awe to your magnificence! haha and I can't wait to join the club :Sheepish

Good to know I don't need to fret about prenatal care for awhile.. I'll probably be able to get moved and settled in Oregon before that time, so that's perfect timing. Lovely! The universe seems to be handling the details for me nearly every step of the way... this has been quite a magical time in my life.

I am giggling hysterically over your signature. Love it!! :rotflmao
