Today was a very long day. Spring classes started today, my EMT class was 5.5 hours long, it was only suppose to be 4 hrs and 15mins. Found out I can return a book but with that money I get back along with $15 more dollars(unbudgeted) I will have to buy 2 software's for the class. Not to happy about that splat.gif but it is a necessary evil, have to have it to pass my class. But on the bright side I did not eat out at all today!!! I ate my lunch I packed, but not my dinner...didn't get a long enough break to eat, so now I'm having cereal

Good luck in your class! That does suck about the software but at least the book return will cover most of it. Congrats on not eating out!!! I'm doing better there but still have a ways to go.

After doing the taxes, I am motivated to find any spending leaks in our budget.  We have been getting the local paper for the past 6 months.  I signed up when there was a deal going on.  It is expiring next week and I will have to pay $143 a year to continue the paper.  I called this morning and cancelled it.

Also, DH got reimbursed for some work expenses which will cover half of the savings I used yesterday to pay the taxes.  So, our savings account will be close to where I started in January.

We are staying home today, no spending.

Hello (again)

I'm momma to two - we unschool and I am mostly a stay-at-home-mom but I do freelance write (most my money goes towards books, damn Kindle!) This month we are going on vacation (Disney, squeeee) and my goal is to not spend so we can save for our trip. We are leaving in three weeks, and I want them to be very low-key and I don't want to spend unless I must! There are some purchases I need to make (bathing suits for kids) but I don't want to do any EXTRA spending.

1 - Did okay. Went to gym (membership payed for) did spend $20 on dinner. It was out first time at this particular gym and I was very shocked at how affordable the dinner was (considering how much food we got + the fact that it was all organic)

2 - Today I plan on getting a cake from bakery for DH's birthday.

3 - Did great!

4 - Bought barn supplies (needed) and stocked up craft supplies (used a gift card, doesn't count) BUT I did splurge at Target..in addition to things we needed, I got myself a cardigan + some clear bins to make homemade light tables.

5 - snowed in, nothing!

02/05: :irked $33.00 to the school. Came out of the kids monthly school/activity budget but still... field trip fees and youth basketball sign up ($20 of it)

The school is definitely a leak in the budget. I do set aside an amount each month for this but this is spending that could be cut down. DH will get home tomorrow afternoon so I'm hoping I can keep spending down while he's home. That's usually the worst part of the month for me spending wise!

Today was a busy day, didn't get much studying or homework done today. Had to get a TB test for class today but it was FREE!! Love free things! Even if it is a shot lol Then had to stop by my childcare resource center to update my school schedule. Did one math homework assignment and printed out what seems like 100 papers for my EMT class. Also paid for my dmv records and a background check for class. Went to my WTW appt to get a new school contract and get reimbursed for my books and uniform (about $500 or more) won't know if I can get reimbursed for about a month. Went to F4L for this weeks produce. Got a call from daycare saying my son was sick, poor thing had a fever, bought some children's Tylenol and now he's fever free! Set up a Dr. appt for tomorrow morning still. Wow long day... tomorrow will be even longer!! I am beat, time for bed.:zzz

Have to put gas in the car today as well. Came home after math class to have lunch, packed dinner and am going to start on some math homework. Have to leave in about 1/2 hour to my EMT class... will be there for about 6 hours!! :dizzy

Tooth Fairy got hit up for $40 because that was the negotiated price for 4 pulled teeth (complete with general anesthetic).  DD1, who is really nervy about anyone going into her mouth, let alone with needles, is also very motivated by money.  We negotiated what the teeth were worth a long time ago, and reckoning day is upon us!  DD2 also gets $20 for her two pulled teeth and the Tooth Fairy is wiped out.

That is a generous tooth fairy!  Glad your daughter got through the procedure.  Dental work can be hard on kids.

The Tooth Fairy is not normally so generous, though she is consistent.  They get an "extra allowance" usually, which is .25 per year per week.  So, dd9 gets 2.25 and dd7 gets 1.75.  I hate having teeth pulled nearly as much as I hated getting a crown, so it was easy to talk me...ahem, I mean the Tooth Fairy... into such generosity.  Especially when it made the whole unpleasant process tolerable for them.  And, it has natural limits, meaning the number of pulled teeth can't keep rising.

Now I need to find a tooth fairy that will reward me for my wisdom teeth and crowns..... if anyone has any leads....

Ordered some flea medication for the cats.  After last week's debacle at the vet, we can't miss a dose of the flea meds.  It is expensive, but I don't see a way around it.

Today was my little valentines day date with my son. We went to go see Walking with dinosaurs, $2 total for the tickets and got some snacks: a large icee and water with a free small popcorn with a coupon $8.75 :lurk. Today's date was in this month's budget. Had to do something special with my little man to make him happy. We went to Red Robin's for lunch after spent $20, didn't realize how much a adult drink was, $4!! jaw2.gif Needless to say next time I'm just getting water. Today was a fun day. Now it's time to do some homework before I start cleaning the house and making dinner.
