Thanks! Kind of/sort of - we coincidentally just re-signed our apartment lease for a year, so we'll probably start looking for real in late summer/early fall.

Yes!  Congrats!  That's awesome!!!  I love house shopping.  It's so fun!

I finished my college paper *phew* (one more to write today)

My son did not end up feeling well last night so we had to cancel our plans.  He woke up from a second nap with an awful headache again.  So more ibu and he zonked back out.

DD2, husband and I ordered pizza.  Ate and started watching a movie,  DD1 came home, son woke up.

We all watched a REALLY bad movie.  DD2 loves any dog movie.  So I joked that we watched a dog movie about dogs doing dog things.  heehee

Son went back to bed afterwards and fell right to sleep.  He slept like the ENTIRE day.  Poor guy.

We have plans to go out tonight. We rescheduled with our friends to try a different place.  Son woke up feeling much better!

Busy morning out running errands -

- Stopped at the bank for quarters for laundry.

- Went to Dollar Tree for new shower curtains.

- Went to Target to cruise Valentine's Day clearance. For $24 I got the following - a Wilton cupcake pan with lid, Wilton metal heart cookie cutter set, 4 red and white treat boxes, 2 conversation hearts candy boxes, 6 packages of red and white tissue paper, package of felt heart stickers, package of sticker Valentine's ribbon, 2 pack of over-door hangers, 3 pack of small round containers (thought they would good for spices for camping), 24-pack of mini bubbles (for birthday party favors). I also picked up a 2 pack of green metal Carlisle stools for $28 - they were originally $100!

- Ran into Hobby Lobby to check out their Valentine's clearance and picked up two red/pink cupid votive holders, mini paper heart doilies and a burlap/red Christmas table runner (of all things) for just under $5.

- Helped husband make lunch.

- Put Little Man down for a nap.

- Put away the shopping.

- Tidied the house.

My in laws are coming over for a visit tomorrow, so I have some heavy-duty cleaning ahead of me this afternoon - clean the stove and microwave, clean the bathroom, laundry and wiping down all of the glass side tables. And maybe at some point I'll get to read the magazines that have come in the mail this week.

That's what I forgot to bring from our old house - shower curtains!

I've done laundry almost all day today now that the washer and dryer are both hooked up and the detergent is here, thanks to my father-in-law and husband. I have a mountain of bins in the laundry room with clothes yet to be washed, and I am eager for when the shelf thingies will be put back up in the closets and the dressers will be moved in the bedrooms so that the clean clothes can be put away instead of taking up more space in the laundry room.

My 6-year-old son and I made a trip to our old house and bagged all of the hangers, took down most of the wall pictures and religious statues, and put the rest of the clothes in the garage into bins. That filled up the car.

Now we're waiting for my in-laws to come and help with things like putting beds together and putting closets together, and tonight my husband and I - or my husband at least (I don't drive on interstates) will pick up my mother from the airport! I made her bed in our guest bedroom, put a Bible on a little stand with the little book "My Daily Bread", and put a Grandma candle holder with a tea candle on the windowsill. I hope she likes her room.

- had a nice slow start this morning

- ran errands with DH:  dropped off cleaning, got gas, groceries at natural food store, bank deposit for non-profit

- lunch at home

- figured out some tax stuff -- another parental milestone, we can't claim DS1 as our dependent any more

- cleared snow off one of the cars

- walked down to help the dog get the mail

- started some soup

DH thinks he's fighting a cold, and we're supposed to visit DS1 and his GF Monday . . . keeping my fingers crossed here.

Well, I did other stuff than what I planned this afternoon -

- Took a nap while Little Man napped.

- Tidied the linen closet, and organized individual types of items into clear plastic shoe boxes - deodorant in one, razors in another, etc. Will help me better keep track of my stockpile.

- Replaced the shower curtain.

- Looked at Thomas trains online with Little Man (per his request).

- Baked gingerbread heart cookies with Little Man.

- Tidied the house again.

- Loaded the dishwasher.

- Started dinner.

So... you know. I figure I can quickly clean the bathroom and the stove and microwave in the morning when I have more energy. And I can throw the stove grate thingys in dishwasher tonight...

Yesterday I...

*cleaned the bathroom, kitchen and tidied the upstairs in preparation for our Odyssey of the Mind meeting

*Worked on my paper for a bit

*Took son to a friend's Magic the Gathering tournament at a local library

*Came home and worked on paper some more

*Worked on college paper some more...

*And... worked on it some more.

*Exhausted, I finally gave up, played a cheesy card game DD2 and her friend made up.

*Took a brief nap

*Showered and got ready to go out.

*Went out to Eat the Rich in DC, where there was a 2 hour wait.  Had a drink and an app at the bar.

*Too hangry to wait, we went to Busboys and Poets and enjoyed a good dinner.

*Home around 1am and to bed!

We had a great night out with some friends we hadn't seen in a while.  This morning I am tired but determined to finish this paper.  The kids have lacrosse evaluations today, right over dinner time.  Ugh.

Random mix here this morning -

- Woke up with Little Man so husband could sleep in a bit. I must've dozed off a little, because when I opened my eyes, I was covered in toys. Interesting start to the day.

- Cleaned the bathroom.

- Swept the kitchen floor.

- Started two loads of laundry (another two to go).

- Hosted my in laws for a visit with Little Man.

- Put Little Man down for a nap.

Still to come -

- Finish the laundry.

- Eat something other than cookies for lunch.

- Get work stuff ready for tomorrow.

- Figure out something for breakfasts this week.

- Figure out what to make for dinner tonight.

- Office work after Little Man's bedtime.

But what I really want to do is just nap myself; I didn't sleep well at all last night.

*yawn*  Is the weekend over yet?  ;)

*Unwillingly got up when my rotten border collie decided to nose me awake this morning

*Made a sausage, eggs and english muffins for breakfast

*Finished my paper... FINALLY!

*Took DD2 and her friend out in the great rat cage debacle.  The store I wanted to go to was closed.  Drove out to another store and it didn't exist anymore.  Had to settle to going into the pet store I used to work at.  Paid a fortune for a new rat cage but the ratties are much happier now.

*Went to another pet store for dog and cat food (the other one didn't sell the brand I buy)

*Set up the new rattie cage and we all watched the ratties play in it for a while.

*Put the collards and smoked pork chops in the pot to simmer all afternoon (I adore collards but love them cooked into oblivion!)

*Got out the beets to make pickled beets.

*Got distracted by son's friend coming over and the mom and I chatted for a good 30 minutes.

*DD1 had a bit of a breakdown over her valentines not turning out for school (she made them).  Offered to go to the store.

*DD1 and I roasted and pickled the beets (didn't can, I'll eat them too quickly for that.  I love them, too).

*DD1 and I went to Target for V-day stuff on clearance.  Decided we should celebrate every holiday late.  heehee

*Came home and fixed the too dry peanut butter I made.  Added some oil and maple syrup.  (I buy whole Foods peanut butter and make my own fancy peanut butters.. much cheaper than buying the gourmet brands!)

*Now I'm about to see how my week looks next week.  DD2 and my son are at lax evaluations with my husband.  I still need to cook some rice and it might be nice to work a bit before I go to bed tonight.

Find anything good? Hobby Lobby is another great place for holiday clearance too.

Those sound so good - are they like a soft dinner roll?

Did a few more things this evening -

- Finished the laundry (except for the last load that's waiting to be folded on the bed...)

- Packed my lunch for work.

- Tidied the house.

- Loaded dirty dishes into the dishwasher.

- Made myself potato soup for dinner.

- Hand washed some pots and pans.

- Did a bit of office work to get ahead of tomorrow.

I ought to bake something for breakfasts... but soft ginger drop cookies will serve me well after I get to the office tomorrow. Everyone once in awhile we had to indulge... going to sit up for a little while and putz around the internet, then go to bed.

ETA - I'm also taking credit for putting away the Valentine's Day decorations, and putting out the whopping four St. Patrick's Day things we own. Little Man "helped" but actually pointed out something cool about the shamrock window clings we put up - there were small ones printed on the plastic that weren't cut out and he said "let's do the little ones!", so I grabbed a pair of scissors and cut those out too. Only took a second, and we got twice as many shamrocks off the sheet.

There was lots of good stuff.. none of which I really took advantage of!  I'm not usually good at buying things unless I directly need them.  And it was mostly candy that was on sale!  We found cheap valentines and a cute tiger stuffed animal for her teacher (the school mascot is a tiger).  Then I thought about buying a cookie jar that was 50% off but I ended up not buying it.  They also had some cute blue flowered placemats.. but I didn't buy those either.  I excel at window shopping!  lol.

We don't have a Hobby Lobby by us, I don't think.  There's Michaels (which I love and always has decent deals) and Joanns, but that's farther away.

As in, you made homemade poptarts or you baked storebought ones?  If you made them, recipe please?  :)

Homemade.  http://www.handletheheat.com/2013/03/homemade-pop-tarts.html

Though there are days when baking store bought counts as an accomplishment!

zomg!  Those look soooo good.  I am TOTALLY making these this weekend!  What did you put in yours?  My kids would go crazy if I put nutella in them.  I might be inclined to make some sort of brown sugar cinnamon mix and put it in (I love the brown sugar poptarts).  Thanks for passing along the recipe!

Fruit jellies -- berry for DS1 and GF1, apple for DS2 and GF2.  I love that the pastry isn't sweetened.  Enjoy!

Well, I've been AWOL a while, haven't I? Page 3 now, everyone's been busy! Me too, but I'm on a crash now. Last week, I was at the in laws one evening, shopped all day the next and was exhausted before we even went out. Valentines Day we went out for brunch, then I went to a little cousin cookie exchange next door. Came home sick and tired. I think it's a combo of overdoing it, the baby teething and not sleeping well off and on the past few weeks and a bad flare up. And I suspect the new doctor's ideas aren't working out for me. I have been miserable the last few days, exhausted and just totally off my game. So this week's goal is to just rest all I can. I have plenty left overs cooked, paying my teen sisters in law to clean and help in general for the week, and plans to make one last effort to make this new health plan work. At 85 lbs and getting sicker, SOMETHING has to change asap.

So today, I showered and did the bare necessities, including naps. But I'm not feeling the least bit refreshed from them.

Welcome back!  So sorry you're not feeling well.  Definitely take it as easy as you can -- hope you feel better soon.
