would you like a private forum? - Page 2

I was told not to flag any one  anymore. Thanks.

Wow. Sending you all some sweet dreams to counter all the yuckies. ( I must be tired to resort to baby talk). G'night. Glad to remember there are many awesome people for every nasty one.

So….I am sensing private is out.

The two options I am seeing thrown around the most are

1.  Straight post count on MDC before being allowed to post on INV

2.  First 20 posts are held for moderation to INV before they are posted here.

Does anyone have a strong preference for either 1 or 2 or strong objection to 1 or 2?

I love the idea of having an open forum where nervous and undecided mom's can go and get support. I also think that we need to be able to talk freely and openly without judgement and trolls.

Just posting to let you know I did not forget this option.  We can call it option number 3.

My fear with this is that we do not have enough traffic to support two boards, but hey, maybe I am wrong.

I prefer option 2, I think it addresses the problem more directly than the first option, without excluding shy newbies.

I prefer option 2 also.

Just looked at how many posts I've posted and it is only 69. (Well,I guess 70, now!) So, 100 seems like a LOT to me. What about a time restriction, instead, if that is even possible? Like a couple of days wait before you can post after joining. I'm assuming most trolls would lose steam and move on before then. . .

2- it seems to better address the problem and i have seen that done on other boards.

And, if someone just joined and already posted 95 posts, then a minimum post count doesnt seem like much of a deterrant to trolls. They LIKE to post a lot so it might just encourage them. They don't like being censored, so a waiting period or mod approval would likely be much more efffective.

I like #2 as well, but who is going to do the moderating?  Is someone going to be put in charge of that, or are we going to have to wait for other mods to OK the post?

I also like #2.

I would be game.  I don't want to mod INV in general (I am probably too biased to mod) but I have been around long enough to tell whether a post is Ok or not for this subforum.  I might mess up sometimes, but it will be on grey-zone things not "You are all selfish and the reason the mealses is coming back" type posts ;)

Even though I'm a select delayer can I join too? I get a lot of info from this forum and respect the regular users a great deal. I'm so sick of the influxes around here as well.

I think you would do a fantastic job.

Thank you.

I am going to give it the day, see if any other great suggestions or good objections come on this thread, and then go ahead and ask the powers that be. I will let them know I volunteer to vet posts from newbies, but if they want to put a mod on it,  that is fine too.

When I was on the fence in the beginning I liked to lurk a lot here, and asking questions became a big part of why I felt confident in my decision. But I realize its getting ugly.
I'm in favor of having posts approved before hand if you have less than 100 posts.

Back on another board, we had a troll problem and admin let us have a private board as long as we also posted on the public one.

It was very doable.

I don't like it when people who are not vaccinating say non supportive things on the VOS forum so I understand the frustration.

Another option?  There are other debate boards where if something gets flagged X amount of times it automatically gets removed.    Of course this wouldn't work on the debate forum, but might be an option for the support forums.  That way new moms can still post but inflammatory comments could get removed quickly without having to wait for mods.

Just an idea, it's worked on other forums.

Could we just quit talking to him? Why should we give one person so much power as to change what we are doing? I wouldn't play with this bully on the playground, so why would I here? Every post back bumps him back to the top of the list.

LOL, I know. I can't be bothered.

We really must stop feeding the stray dogs.
