Feeling Worse In the Second Trimester?

Hi everyone. I’m working through some disappointment and wanted to know if anyone is in a similar place. Beyond feeling extremely exhausted in the first trimester and having sore boobs, I felt pretty good. I was even enjoying those surges to eat more than usual.

Now that many of you seem to be in the upswing of your pregnancies, I am feeling worse. Nausea, indigestion, constipation, and headaches are my new normal. I do have a little more energy, but these symptoms have continued to keep me away from my pre-pregnancy work-out routines and are starting to slow my work processing.

I’m not one of those women that enjoys pregnancy in general. I’m more the baby experience life on the outside types, but with many more months to go I am discouraged and wondering how I’m going to make it feeling so bad so often.

Hugs! I felt the same way with my last one....had a pinched nerve in my back the whole 2nd trimester and was so much more tired and crappy feeling! Maybe ask your midwife about other supplements you can take? Hoping things improve for you.

Aw, I'm so sorry. I'm also feeling really poorly. I guess perhaps I have rhinitis of pregnancy, because I'm having terrible sinus headaches about half the week, and it's so bad that I'm throwing up all day, and having to lay down.

Have you had your iron level checked? It might be good to do a panel and see if there's anything you could add to help. I would definitely call your midwife/doctor and ask about your symptoms and what kind of relief they might be able to help with. Big hugs, it sucks to feel so crappy.

I had an uncomfortable first trimester, and the nausea is still lingering a bit and now I'm utterly exhausted to boot. I second the suggestion for supplements - I'm on Floradix right now (iron) and my midwife has me taking additional supplements, but I'm waiting for them to arrive in the mail. I suppose, if you can, just try to rest as much as possible. Dollar stores have cheap square containers that are often used for dishwashing or soaking, but I've been carrying mine around as a nausea bucket. Try to keep in mind anything that is a trigger for you. Water or seltzer/club soda with a citrus wedge might help.

I found that keeping very well hydrated during the night (at least 16 oz of water) was EXTREMELY helpful, because I would literally sit up in bed and vomit (bucket within reach distance). If you're a first-thing-in-the-morning vomiter, this will help dilute acids and bile. It's much easier in the morning because heaving up liquid hurts less than anything involving solids. (Worst experience so far this pregnancy - a whole apple with skin. My throat was bruised and I could barely swallow for a couple of days.) I don't know if that will help you, but it was really great to realize once I started having a pattern. My first pregnancy was worse (sick the entire time), but I'm still miserable being in the middle of a pregnancy now, so I guess it's all relative.

Totally been there! Ugh, sorry. My worst thing has been almonds. Lots of almonds.

I'm totally with you. My nausea is better, but overall I feel terrible. Aches and pains, exhaustion, jittery feeling, constipation (to that point that I had to take a break from my prenatals), and insomnia. Part of me keeps saying that it's okay, because this is my last one and I just have to get through it, and another part of me thinks it's a shame that I've not really been able to relax and enjoy being pregnant this last time. I'm hoping this gets better soon, and just taking it a day at a time for now.

My only symptom during the first trimester was acne.

Now I've started getting headaches and am super dehydrated. I always wake up with a dry mouth. I haven't changed my water intake, but I'm trying to take in more and I always leave a full glass of water by my bed so when I wake up parched, it's there ready to go.

My joints also click and clack more, and my one bad hip seems to be getting worse. I have been seeing a chiropractor for it, it was originally a running injury.

I had stopped taking my prenatals in week 12 with my docs permission as they were upsetting my nausea. The plan was to start them up again in the last trimester. In comparison to many of you my symptoms are not as severe, but still more than I was expecting. With my first I thew up almost daily for the first four months. However things eased after that. I see my doc Monday and maybe we can get a few of these issues calmed down. I vote first to stop the headaches. I suspect they are sinus related like one of you also. Oh yeah and I had an eczema flare up like I've not had since a little girl. Those patches are slowly going away but have left marks that I guess will take a few more weeks to fade. Thank you all for helping me know I'm not alone. Hope things improve for you guys soon too. Is it July yet???? orngbiggrin.gif

Have you tried coconut oil for your eczema? Tell me if you find anything to help with sinuses! I'm miserable.

Eczema tip: Neutrogena Sesame Oil. Nothing works for me except that!

We share a lot of symptoms!

My mucous membranes in the sinus cavity have been non-stop swollen with post nasal drip; which have been causing pressure headaches and worsened the nausea. My eczema flares up pretty bad, too - which I haven't had in over 6 years!  Coconut oil seems to help my skin, along with Kerry's Herbals Miracle Salve (recommended for all rashes, nipple cracks, cuts, sores, scrapes, acne, sunburn, etc!) and making sure we have a humidifier running because it's been so dry this winter in the desert. The only shared symptoms I have had with this and first pregnancy are the bits of acne, but none like I have right now!
