Any Baby Arrivals yet?

Hi everyone. So it's February and I have been checking on this DDC to see announcements from people about the birth of their babies.

I am 38 weeks+1 day and already wishing my baby would be out asap. I have been so anxious and getting tired of the waiting game. But having read about the diversity of people's experiences, I am thinking I better relax and enjoy the waiting. I had always hoped for a delivery before the due date. It's quite discouraging to hear some tell me theirs came at 41 or 42 weeks... and having to wait for 4 more weeks looks almost impossible. But hearing such stories have indeed calmed my nerves and I try to take my mind off it so I can  keep sane:). Although I know the baby can come anytime as each person's experience differs.

So any baby arrivals yet?

Funny! I was just thinking of starting a similar thread...I always wonder when I don't see some people posting anymore if they've had their babies :)

I'm due 2/13 and nothing yet...though had some pretty strong BH for the first time last night. Thought I was going into labor. But they passed and here I am! I'm such a planner it's kind of hard to just wait and see and never know when it's going to happen. You really have to let go of all efforts to control! It's a good lesson, I guess.

Nothing for me yet, but I'm due 2/21.  Yesterday was when things started to get more uncomfortable for me, baby's head is definitely lower in my pelvis. I have persistent lower abdominal pain whenever I take a step, plus I already have a pulled muscle in my left groin from narrowly avoiding a fall thanks to a pack of dogs.  It's reassuring to feel my body getting ready, but scary too because we still don't have things organized in the nursery.

Yes! I have been quite uncomfortable for some time now, and for that reason would like baby to get out now, but I need him to stay in a little longer, so I can finish shampooing the nursery carpet, and get the family crib repainted, and finish the baby laundry, and get as caught up as possible on my work from home job, and....

My DD was yesterday.  I've been having very mild menstrual-like cramps since last night.  We will see if this materializes into anything significant.  My midwife said yesterday after checking me that she predicted that it would be sometime next week.  I was 1cm, 50% effaced and baby is at -2.  DH and I ate some spicy indian food to see if that helps anything along.  Lol.  Good luck everyone!

Nice to read from everyone. I was given 18th as my due date but after I relocated, I had to change to another hospital and they calculated theirs as 20th. It really does not matter I guess. My friend keeps asking me whether my baby has dropped lower into the pelvis I am not sure I know how that would feel but in my opinion the baby has not. Although the pressure in my pelvis has increased greatly and I pee almost every 2-3 hours now especially at night. I have been having some BH as well though not so serious, other than that nothing is telling me how soon or late this baby is coming. Would keep waiting.

I was also very anxious before when I did not have anything ready for the baby and would not allow DH rest. But I started getting things set late in December and I think I am practically set now. I guess that is what makes the waiting look longer: the fact that my bags are packed and all things set and ready for the baby.

I got a new job in an educational institution recently and I am not entitled to a maternity leave but my employer is willing to give me two weeks off post birth. There is going to be a three weeks break before the students resume again in March and that is another reason I wish the baby comes asap so I can also have about three weeks or more (if I do not officially inform my employer about birth till sometime close to resumption). I know the latter idea does not look sincere or it is probably not but I would like to have more time to rest and be with the baby than just mere 2 weeks.

I know everything will work out fine at the end of the day so that knowledge keeps me going .

Nada for me yet. Due the 22nd though so that's not surprising! I've been having practice contractions since about 34-35 weeks and they are getting stronger and more painful, wrapping around my back, but they never get consistent and eventually fade away. Like you CJ this week (37) is the first I've felt really uncomfortable and ready to be done with pregnancy. Baby is putting lots of pressure on my cervix and it feels like she wants out! I really hope she comes before her due date but my guess is I won't be that lucky.

Xyz are you not eligible for FMLA? I'm pretty sure it's illegal for your employer to not allow you to take unpaid maternity leave -- you should be entitled to 12 weeks. But I confess I don't know all the rules. What are you planning to do for childcare with a 2-week-old?! If you can manage it financially I would try to take a few more weeks...

I'm 37 weeks and have been having practice waves for a long time but they have slowly been increasing in intensity. I'm not due until the 26th and I really want to go to the end of the month becaue my mom doesn't arrive until march 5 and id really like her here ASAP after babe is born.

Stay in baby!!

I am not in the US actually. It is no illegal here. To be entitled to maternity leave, it is usually required that one would have worked for some specific duration with the employer. Sometimes 6 months to 1 year where it is a government institution and where it is a private one, it ranges from a year to 2 years depending on the employment policy of the workplace. I have barely spent three months with my employer. The two weeks I am given is paid actually not unpaid.

All is well. Nursing has hit some bumps (latch, etc) but we've got everything mostly sorted out now :)  We are thrilled that she made her appearance early, as we were able to introduce her to DH's grandpa before he passed away this week.
