I've contacted the midwife and backup, and I'm on their calendar, but we haven't made an appointment. I don't feel a need at this point. Maybe at 10 weeks? 12 weeks? After that?

I'm going to see a Dr feb 24th. I've never seem an MD in pregnancy (i'm a homebirther) but I just got Keiser insurance so I'll do all my lab work and u/s with them cause it won't cost anything. It was funny and kind of annoying talking to the advice nurse and making an appointment. She acted like I was clueless but I guess a lot of people are so she had to assume wink1.gif It sounded like they would get me in for an u/s that day. I'm looking forward to that!

Anyone else have Keiser insurance?

I haven't made a first appointment. My midwife usually waits until the 12-13 week mark. Hubby and I are still get used to the idea of another baby. This will be my second birth with her, and she got my chart from my second pregnancy from my previous (retired) midwife. So she knows "my stuff". Though I'm considering a UP & UC. Not sure how hubby feels about that...

I have an appointment on Tuesday for an ultrasound (as per doc's recommendation after having an Ectopic Pregnancy in November). I will be 6w3d. We are crossing our fingers that everything is healthy and on track. My anxiety (as a result of my experience in November) is fairly overwhelming and I am having a hard time focusing on just being at peace with this pregnancy.

My midwife appointment is in March- when I am more like 9-10 weeks.

My first appointment is March 4th. It's so far away! I'm going to be a bit nervous until I can see the heartbeat.

I feel you! Mine is March 3rd (I'll be 10 weeks 1 day). Feels like an eternity!

I decided to reschedule my appointment for 10 weeks. Hopefully things are going well. :-/

I decided to reschedule my appointments out until March, do mainly to insurance issues. I am self employed and my insurance wasn't settled when I found out two weeks ago that I was preggers. So by March it will be a go to have prenatal visits covered, fingers crossed. Hard to say with this new government insurance.

I'm not going in for my first appointment until March 18th, which seems like a really long way off.

Looks like my first visit is the 26th. My midwife has a mama due in my area so she will stop in and see me. I've missed her. Such an awesome lady.

DH and I met with three midwives last week and chose one. I made an appointment with her for Feb 26th, when I'll be 9 weeks. I really do want to see/hear the heartbeat, but I think I am not going to let her use the Doppler or get an u/s, so we'll just be waiting for the fetoscope. :/

I don't have health insurance and apparently there is only one midwife within an hour of me, so . . . I am hoping to make an appointment with a CNM or OBGYN for the beginning of March, when my health insurance will hopefully kick in. I really hate seeing doctors, but I don't know anything about paying for a homebirth midwife and unless the only one I could find is willing to drive an hour to my house . . . I am so nervous. Any advice? I have no idea about this whole process, but of course everyone insists it is absolutely necessary I see doctors and things. I do want to get the ultrasound and see the heartbeat. This is my first pregnancy and it's a total surprise. Just found out a few days ago- thought I had the flu!- and I'm totally overwhelmed! I have always known I want to have the baby in my home- I do not trust doctors and hospitals- but it seems like in PA that is really hard to do if there is any professional involve.d

We have health insurance, but the first $10,000 of a birth is all on us. My midwife comes almost 2 hours to me. And she sees me in my home for every visit. She tries to lump all the visits to my area in one day, to save in her expenses.

Our first midwife (was there for baby #2, retired after his birth) was $2,500 and 45 min away. We went to see her for appointments. We were super strapped for cash. She tells be barter work around their house and in the garden as part of payment for her services.

If you do want the ultrasound, there is a good possibility the midwife would know a good place to get one, and what doctors in the area are supportive of home birth.

((HUGS)) I know it can be overwhelming, especially with a surprise. I definitely wanted a 4 chip, but right not is really, really ad timing. Our last baby was like this also, it seems to work out as we travel the journey!

First apt will be the 27th, my partner will be coming with me for this.  A little nervous I will be just around 8 weeks!  What should I expect?

Our first ultrasound will be next Monday, the 24th.  I'll be just at 6 weeks.  Really looking forward to it...

Wow you ladies are lucky. I don't get to have my first appointment with my midwife until March 24. I should be a little over 11 weeks. And I'm not sure when I get an ultrasound.

Same here! I'll be just under 11 weeks at my first appointment (it's a month from yesterday), and I'm also seeing a midwife. They don't see patients until 10 weeks or after. I get it, but it seems like a long time to wait!

Yea. My midwife said they like to do all the bloodwork that is needed that OBs normally with schedule at your 10-12 week appointment all done at once. Do you know when you will have your ultrasound? I don't even know when I will see baby. I really want to see the little bean.

Nope. Possibly at that appointment, though I might wait until a little further on to do the first one - I've been reading a little about the potential risks of ultrasound. It's tough because I really want to see the baby, if only to reassure myself I'm really pregnant.

Do you know when your first ultrasound will be?
