Can I find out the cesarean rate for a particular doctor/mw?

My mw miscalculation of my due date has really disturbed me. Not for myself so much, but for other women who are not so proactive in their own cycles and gestation periods. A two week miscalculation of a due date pretty much sets the woman up for a cesarean from the get go. Scary stuff.

I found a website that lists the cesarean rate by state and hospital, but am not finding a site for cesarean rate by doctor. Is this public information? Would I have to call the hospital to find this information?

You may need to call the hospital.

If you do find out, also take into account the kinds of patients they see and how high-risk they are, and whether that's broken out in the statistics. A MFM specialist will (typically) have a higher rate than a regular OB who will (typically) have a higher rate than a CNM. But that's because they see different patient populations. So a blanket rate won't necessarily tell you much about *your* chance of a c/s based on your risk factors. Ideally see if you can get the stats for patients who are similar to you.
