Breastfeeding with implant success stories?

Hi Mamas,

I haven't posted on mothering.com in years, but found this forum to be the most valuable of all forums I've ever encountered.  My two baby boys are now 5 and 6.

I had silicone gel implants placed above the muscle after my youngest weaned at 3.  I bf'd and even had an amazing tandem nursing relationship with my boys. But I developed Fibrocystic Breast Disease and after surgeries, the implants replaced lost tissue and protected my breasts from further damage.

My surgeon says my ducts are at least partially in tact, so I'm very hopeful about milk production.

I guess I'm just hoping there are some other Mama's out there that have successfully breastfed with implants.  Taking them out poses more risks to breast function but I'm torn.

Have you done a google search?

Don't have personal experience, but I have a friend who has a sister who had implants and was able to nurse her son for at least 6 months-1 year.  I don't have any other details, but wanted to give you some hope!

I have done a lot of googling, but was just hoping there might be another mama out there that could say "yes, I did it!!!".
