Homeschooling in SE Michigan

Homeschooling with 5 kids, here and looking to expand our circle of friends. I have 2 preteen girls who are wishing they had more friends. It seems like a lot of times we meet people with kids my younger ones ages, but not older. When we do actually come across older kids there is often a disconnect. Example, going to a playground for  play days and other people show up but there is nothing really to connect them so it is awkward. I'm introverted, which doesn't help the situation. They say that is the one thing they miss about public school is having other kids their own age around. They are involved in sports and church, but they don't have very many people they can just get together and hang out with and I think that's what they are looking for.

We're not really interested in doing co-ops but are interested in events, activities, clubs,  and such.

I was just curious if there were any other homeschoolers in our area with the same issue. Maybe we could conquer it together! :)

Make sure you check Meetup.com and search "homeschool", "homeschoolers" and "homeschooling".  When I relocated I found some great finds that way.  :)
