U/S - good and bad news

I had my u/s the morning.  Mostly good news.  There's a baby in there!  Alive and healthy!   Yay!  Hb was 183, and he/she was squirming all around in there.

THe bad news is that the tech saw something on my cervix and isn't sure what it is.  Said it may be a fibroid or a clot.  She said the doctor would have to look at it. When I left, they said the doctor was out of town and they couldn't tell me when she'd be able to look at it. So I was worried I'd have to be worried all week. BUt then they called and said the doctor wants me to et another u/s with a perinatologist to see what's going on.  So, at least I can hopefully get some answers. Any idea what a fibroid would mean during pregnancy? I know they are pretty common in general and just wasn't sure how they complicate things while pregnant. ANd then the blood clot possibility just doesn't sound good.

Congrats on little tyke being alive and healthy with a strong little heartbeat callieollie! :joy

I have a fibroid but its growing off the outside my uterus. Its kinda 'big' about the size of a small green apple maybe more like a fat clementine but its on a stalk outside uterus like a mushroom. Gross - still creeps me out but supposedly it wont interfere with the pregnancy. It may be partially why I look like I'm "showing" so soon. My cousin had one on the inside of uterus and went on to deliver a happy healthy SERIOUSLY adorable little Gracie-baby! I think there was a bit more bleeding from hers but it was a totally normal delivery and pregnancy.

I hope that it turns out to be something completely benign and that they are just being overly cautious!

Keep us posted and loads of positive vibes coming atcha!

Thanks Crickets!  I hope to try to set up an appointment tomorrow for maybe Monday for the u/s so I can get some answers.  I'm done looking on the internet.  Most stuff about fibroids seems benign but anytime I add that it's on the cervix is when miscarriage, c-section, bleeding, etc. show up and I don't want to stress about what I don't yet.  I'm so glad I got the u/s for reassurance about the baby, but this is also why I hate u/s. I definitely want to know if there is something wrong, especially if it would risk me out of a homebirth, but I think every u/s I've had there has been some issue.  My first they couldn't find my son's kidneys so I had to go back again.  Another one there was some heart issue they needed to check out which turned out fine.  Another one was placenta previa which of course later turned out fine.  I do hate the unnecessary worry. I hope it's unnecessary this time as well too though!

I wish I had something to add here!  I bet you are so annoyed that the weekend is coming up and you'll end up waiting and wondering.  The good news is the baby and the uterus are OK.  I would imagine that most abnormalities on the cervix could be dealt with in a way that keeps the pregnancy intact.  Keep us posted on when you have your appt and how it goes.  Fingers crossed for something ridiculously benign!

Subbing. Good luck. Sounds like there is potential for it to be "nothing". I'll hope with you that is the case.

callie - I will hope for the unnecessary worrying and the best possible outcome! All fingers and toes crossed.

I posted in a different thread that is lost in thread-land and forgot to update here! Thanks for asking Camerahappymom!  I had the follow up u/s on Wednesday, exactly a week after the first one, and they said the "thing" on the cervix is just a cyst, that many women have these fluid filled sacs as just part of their anatomy and there is no problem with them and most people only know they have them from u/s so don't usually cause any problems.  So everything is normal and going well!  Baby is growing well too.  I was 9w1d with the first u/s and baby measured 9w3d and then the follow up u/s I was 10w1d and measuring 10w5d so baby is growing nice and fast!

Good news! I think I just discovered a cyst on my cervix tonight. I was happy to read that it's harmless!

you can get little pimple type things on your cervix. I felt one weeks and weeks ago..and then it went away on its' on..

Isn't a pimple not much more than a cyst? ;) lol I read one chick where she had a rather large cyst and it didn't cause issues, but popped during birth. As if there weren't enough fluids! haha

I dont' know..but it should be fine. just keep it monitored. i 'watched' for a few weeks and then it was no longer there.. but your midwife can check it out
